Have you ever had an article "flagged" on Helium?

Today, I got this message from Helium that one of my articles had been flagged. There were choices like "grammar mistakes," etc. Mine was checked "Other" and the comment from the person was that my article strayed from the main topic (how to start birdwatching). Well of course the article is all about birds, and it has actually been one of my best sellers.
Have you ever gotten flagged on Helium? What did you do or would you do in my situation?

No I think you misunderstand fizzytom--I'm replying here instead of the post you left under mine post...I was notified by email of my article being flagged and it gave the person's name who flagged me and she was aware of my name--so this wasn't the anonymous rating thing...she rated it/flagged it on the article site...not the side by side rating thing...my article happens to be 5 out of 20 btw, so a fairly top rated article....I did email the person back...she was just commenting on the fact that my user name was the same as the cat I mention in the article..uh, pyewacket...I tend to use pyewacket as my user name all over while I do have a cat named pyewacket..LOL

No I haven't been flagged on Helium, but if you find that that commenter is unjust, I think you should write to Helium's support team and stuff. If it's one of your best seller and no one has said that so far, I think there might be something "wrong" with the commenter. If I were you, I would definitely protest to the helium staff!

Thanks for the advice. I thought it was strange myself; I wouldn't have been as surprised if they had disliked one of my political articles or something more controversial, but this seems so vanilla-bland kind of stuff.

I write articles for Helium too, Although I have never been flagged. That is strange. I think I would email them and ask them how it strayed from the subject and what if anything can you do to correct this. Never hurts to ask.

Well, i dont like that idea at all and im sure many of my articles have faults in them. I write them for me and hope others will like them but as soon as my work starts attracting ameture critics, it will be the last time i write
blessed be

much as though i appreciate your comment, i do feel if ameture criticism, by people who know less than the writer, is stopping people writing, then surely this can only lead to the degeneration of the site? criticism as long as it is positive and constructive has a place but if it is unmoderated it has the capacity to damage the site all by itself, if you can see what i mean?

It is "amateur criticism" - you are right. But we want to make Helium a successful site. And to do that we have to make sure that the writing is of the higest quality. In turn that wil increase the revenue to the site.
Helium is a site where peple can turn for excellent information and debate and having a vast catalogue of great writing will keep people coming.
I hate to say it but if you aren't interested in doing that then perhaps it's not the place for you. Maybe a blog where you can write whatever you want is more appropriate?
At the end of the day Helium is a community and we seek to support and encourage each other.

Flagging is not "offical" it is just a suggestion.
The otehr day someone flagged one of my articles - on Turkish baths - and said they had flagged because it wsa under "Pets" and therefore in the wrong place. But when I checked, it wasn't it was under the correct topic after all. But it doesn't matter. They were wrong, nothing to get upset about.
Another time someone pointed out a few typos, one of which kind of changed the meaning a little so I was glad someone spotted it and I got it changed.
When you get flagged by a member your article says on the site; its just a suggestion. you can ignore it if you want.
Someone flagged another article of mine and said" Great article, loved it but you should add some paragraph spaces near the end." Postitive and helpful at the same time.

You're not the only one that got a message from Helium that one of the articles had been flagged and I too got it as being "other" and the comment was "referral to author's name"....uh, just what is that supposed to mean anyway. I was thinking of maybe getting in contact with the person who made the comment and ask what the heck she meant by that

Ok - you're meant to remain anonymous when you write an article on Helium. When the article gets put side by side with another of the same title to be compared and rated, it won't be a fair rating if your name is there.
If someone likes you or doesn't like you, it won't be an impartial rating based on the quality of the writing and nothing else.
This is why you got flagged.

I just got flagged as well (I left the whole story on another post http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/1399948.aspx)
What I didn't mention there was that I actually wrote to both my fellow writers.
One I thanked for her input as she truly believed she was being helpful. The other I questioned exactly what she meant.
Like you both my articles are well ranked so I am a bit perplexed by the whole thing really, as I'm sure you are as well
