have you heard about the new way that ebay is going to handle the feedback. you will no longer be able to leave a neative feedback for anyone. do you think that this is right? what if the buyer or seller is a rude person and had not sent you the item or has ripped you off. how are you suppose to tell others of your expercience with them. i feel that ebay should not take away our rights to leave the feedback that we feel is right for each transaction no matter if that is negative or postive. what is your opiion on this matter?

Actually, I believe you have misread part of that. It states that: "Buyers will only be able to receive positive Feedback." Buyers can still leave Neutral and Negative Feedback for sellers. Now, based on that, no, I don't believe that is fair. Sure they state that Buyers will be held more accountable when sellers report UPI or they break other policies, but what exactly does that mean?!?! Without Feedback on Buyers, how will sellers know who NOT to sell to? I can understand what they are trying to do, but I think they are missing the mark here... something is missing!

i dont like a lot oftheir changes. i tend to not leave negative feedback unless absolutely necessary, i give everyone the benefit of the doubt, and i've never gotten negative either. but some buyers really REALLY need negative feedback so you can warn others about them. i dont like the increased fees for selling, i do like the free gallery. but i'm exploring other avenues to sell my goods!

This is the thing about eBAY that always bothered me. Back in time it used to read that the seller was supposed to leave the feedback first because the buyer is FIRST in the transaction.... Meaning they pay.... The seller is supposed to comment on how that went.... Then it is the buyers turn.... Did they receive it? Was it what they bought? Was it fast? Was everything the way it should be and if not, was the seller professional about it? This made 100% senes and I thought that was the only way to do it. Honestly, this is how it should be. However it started being that I saw sellers saying openly on their sales page that they will leave feedback ONLY after receiving it. WHAT? Why don't they want to say how fast I paid? They are worried you say somehting bad, then thy shouldn't DO anything bad right? That became common place. Sellers would wait for the buyer.... BUT the BIGGEST problem I saw was the crooked sellers would use this idea of posting comments last to RETALLIATE agaisnt honest and deserved negative feedback. Being a jerk isn't a reason to give bad feedback IF everything else went right, in my opinion. People are people.... and if the service went well who cares that they didn't kiss your bum, or were short about it. Some people MISTAKE other's text anyway as you can not tell the tone of voice from text often. eBAY should make efforts to stop retalliation feedback as that is NOT right. That in fact, would be an outright lie and against the eBAY guidelines anyway. I lost interest in eBAY though a while back and use other internet stores and such to buy things.

I could hardly belief it myself when I read this new feedback policy. 95% of my dealings on ebay are as a seller. I have close to 790 in feedback with only 4 negatives. All 4 of those negative feedbacks were retaliatory and after I had left the seller a negative feedback for very legitimate reasons(like sending the wrong item or not sending the item at all). I can understand that ebay is trying to stop these types of feedback. I just wonder though if there was not a better way, than to strip sellers ability for negative feedback. Despite the fact I have never had to leave a buyer negative feedback, sometimes buyers do not always do right in a transaction.

I dont think it would be right to take away the negetive feedback option. No one will know who is sending stuff out you buy or who isnt. I like the feedback option because you get to see who sends the stuff you pay for and who doesnt. I really hope they dont do this

I think I have to start reading my emails from ebay! I actually skimmed through it but didn't realize that they were taking away the negative feedback. That's ridiculous! It's also going to make it a lot harder to buy because we won't know if we can trust the sellers any more. Definitely not a good move on ebay's part.

I've been digesting the announcement from eBay about sellers not being able to leave negative feedback for buyers, and finally I have come to a conclusion. As far as I know, eBay is the only online shopping site where the seller can rate the buyer. If you know of another, please let me know, but in general online buyers may be given the opportunity to rate a seller (such as on amazon.com), but most online shopping sites don't even afford their shoppers/buyers that opportunity. So, eBay is changing their policy to be more in line with other online shopping sites. I think this actually is a good thing for buyers - and if you sell on eBay, it should be important to you that people feel comfortable buying there. I wrote a blog post about it just this morning, in fact. The link to my ebay tips blog is on my profile. I know many sellers will disagree with me, but for now that's my conclusion on eBay's policy change.

That is just for sellers Sellers can't leave buyers negative feedback. I have only left negative feedback for a seller twice in the 5 years that I have been using ebay.

Where did you get this information? Can you please provide links? I'm a seller on eBay and would really appreciate the information. It would be a shame if they got rid of the negative feedback thing, because it would give me a chance to warn other people if someone was a bad seller or buyer.

I don't think that Ebay should take away the negative feedback section as that allows buyers to know if they are dealing with someone who could be a problem. However, I am glad to see that they are leaving it for the sellers.
