Their both good. It really just depends on the age of the kids. Shreck is targeted toward younger audiences ( even though there's still stuff there for adults to enjoy as well ) while Harry Potter is more for pre teens & up.

shrek the third is good for kids, why because it's totally animated and gives them joy watching animated films. And whereas the Harry Potter goes it's good for the kids who are above 10 to 12 years. There are some creatures in Harry Potter that the little kids can get scared off. Although those two films are very much popular and everybody loves to watch them irrespective of their age.

I agree! I think Shrek is a good movie for kids. Some people don't like Harry Potter and I'm one of them. I just can't seem to get into it.

It depends on how old the kids are. But I would say that I think Shrek is the better movie, because some kids might be frightened by Harry Potter. Are we talking about only shrek 1 and harry potter 1....or all the movies that have been made so far? Because if it's all of them I would defeniatly say Shrek is better for kids, the Harry Potter movies keep getting scarier and scarier! (for kids =P ) hehe

well, i think it all depends on the kids themselves and how well the parents can prevent them from copying the antics. my son's just 5 and he too watches harry potter. well he's interested as he can see monsters. but i do let him know it is painful for the monster and it hurts so he can't fight and all the other stuff. he likes shrek too as it is more like cartoons for him. i'd prefer to encourage my kids to watch those kinds of films though i won't discourage them from watching harry potter as they can learn good things from them too.

depending on the children, I think both films are likely to be enjoyed just as much. Though I suppose shrek, is more family friendly as a whole because there's something for the kids and then there are the more grown up jokes for the adults.

It depends entirely on the children's age. I would recommend Shrek for under about 7 or 8. After that, they will be able to understand Harry Potter better. The later Harry Potter films are quite violent and somewhat scary but that doesn't seem to bother my 9 year old grand daughter.

I would have to say Shrek. I took my five year old to see the lastest Harry Potter movie and he was bored out of his mind and could'nt sit still even if you paid him to. The first two movies were more for kids. Then afterwards; the movies started becoming more for older audiences.

My daughter who is only 2 loves shrek movies we have all 3. I think they are cute and funny. Donkey makes it funny. I didn't like the 3rd one as much as the first and second one but they are very entertaining. Harry Potter would be for someone who is a bit older. I like harry potter movies. I haven't seen the last one yet but I would like to collect all of them for our dvd collection.

I think Shrek is the better movie for kids. I think Harry Potter is for older kids around the 11 year an older mark. Potter has some pretty violent and scary stuff in it. I think if the child is to young to read the books then they are to young to watch the movie. i loved the books and movies for myself though. When my daughter is ready we will watch them together.

I agree with most, the movie is depending on the child's age. If the child is younger than 9 or ten I would recommend seeing Shrek if the child's older than that, then they should go see Harry Potter. Harry Potter deals with more heavier subjects for a younger child to understand.

In general, Harry Potter is geared towards young adults and teenagers who may share common problems and struggles with the young wizard. A young child (5-10) with not relate and problem only enjoy the action scenes. However there is a lot of dialouge and plot change that will be difficult for younger children to follow Shrek on the other hand is a fun animated movie that has memorable characters and one-liners your children can quote for weeks. However, some jokes are adult targeted the the fart/burp jokes can be stale and uncuth a lot of the time.

hi marketing07. In my opinion, shrek would be better for kids. It is a movie for everyone. Even little children woudn't feel scared while watching it. Harry Potter could be good for older kids. have a nice day, jazgottt.

If your children are below 11, they should watch Shrek. The film was made for children, especially with such graphics, and the plot is not getting darker and darker...however if your children are aged above 11, they could watch harry potter. harry potter movies are getting darker and the plot thickens more now that its on its 6th film. besides, harry potter movies are about children growing into adolescents.
