ever since i first started dating i always entered into a relationship with the expectations of long term. My first girlfriend was 2 1/2 years, it ended after the 3rd time she cheated on me, i finally realized it wasn't going to stop. My second girlfriend was just over 3 years but when she got into college she told me she wanted to be able to go to parties and if she wanted to fool around with someone she wanted to be able to do so without worrying about hurting someone, so that one ended.
i had a couple girlfriends that were short term, things just didn't work out, but it was mutual and i am still friends with them. The next girlfriend was just over a year but within 4 months she destroyed my trust in her, and continued to lie to me, eventually it was just too much so i ended it.

of course i prefer having long term relationships cause we shouldn't play and hurt other people's feelings in that case

After I got divorced, I dated around for a few years and it was alot of fun. Then met a man, fell in love, settled down, it has been three years now, and am thinking that maybe this isn't working. He isn't to good at relationships or we just aren't meant to be together. We will see.

i prefer sticking with one special person. but right now, im single and casually dating 2 or 3 guys. nothing deep, just going out or dinner and spending some time with one other if we're both free. no commitments or strings. i think i am keeping to myself for now coz i've been thouroughly hurt by the first and only relationship i had which lasted 4 years.

before i met my fiancee, i used to entertain lot of guys. (entertain? because i don't date them.) i've been into several relationships one time after the other sometimes over lapping a month. i didn't last long with these guys because i usually find them boring to be with after a few weeks. so i try to find another one. but then when i met my fiancee. i suddenly felt like staying with him for long. months after i realize that he was the longest relationship i've ever had. we're now 5 years and planning to settle down the next years to come. i never taught of staying in our relationship this long, i just fell for him too much maybe. have you ever felt it before? if you do, you would not want any other relationship again. you'll notice yourself falling deeply in your relationship.

After two abusive relationships lasting 9 years I have devoted the rest of my life to be a free spirit, playing the field and NEVER EVER settling down again. I love being single, I just wish I realized it was far more fun to be single before I embarked on a relationship! No strings, no ties, no complications, no heartache, just fun. Sorry but I don't want to be tied down any more, any noose around my neck, or any ball and chain. I go out every fortnight and play the field, I don't take numbers, I don't want to take names, it's just fun and excitement. I'd rather a life of lust than love. Love comes at a too higher price. Anyone gets too close to me and I pull away sooooo fast that they don't see me for gold dust! A 4 year relationship nearly killed me. I would have survived better going out to Iraq and fighting, it would have been more bearable than the relationship!

Wow, I am married. Been married to the same man for over thirty years. So I guess that means long termed relationships and before I met my husband, I dated one person at a time. Was not into playing the field, not that attractive, bad joke. ha ha. Anyway I get confused very easy and I would be the type who called someone the wrong name, so for me not playing the field was very dangerous.

I started dating the guy that is now my husband when I was in eight grade, so I guess I'm not really all that qualified to even answer this, but I'm definitely into long term relationships. I didn't have many boyfriends before him seeing as how I was so young, but even those few guys before him lasted several months. The guy before my hubby was for over a year. I suppose I get attached easily, or comfortable would be a better word. I'm just not a girl that ever thought about dating a lot of guys. I found what I wanted when I was young and we have been together overall for a little over ten years(that includes us dating, we've been married for four years). I guess playing the field would give you experience with different types of guys, but that was never the life for me, you know? I'm in it for the long haul.

I dated a few people when i was younger sweets and then I was married, after my marriage broke up I was didn't see anyone for a yesr - I needed to come to terms with what had happened and concentrate on my son! After that I dated 2 men before getting together with my partner of over 10 years! Bottom line I prefer long term relationships - specially if it is the right person! xxx

While others prefer dating a variety of persons before sticking with a serious relationship, I prefer to stick with just person. It's a long term relationship for me. My hubby and I were sweethearts for about 5 years before we settled down and got married. My husband was my first and last boyfriend and he's now my hubby for more than 20 years.
What about you?

After all the experiences in my life, I have come to the conclusion that some people were meant to be in long term relationships and me and a couple of others were not meant to be in long term relationships!
Where I went wrong is trying in vain to make a long term relationship work, when in the end I came to the conclusion, that I was never meant to be in a long term relationship!
If I had to do it all over again, I believe I would be much happier just playing the field!

I prefer sticking with just one person for a long period of time. My girlfriend and I have been on for six years now. I really don't have any reason of dating other people than her. I hope this relationship would end up in marriage.
