Yes, it is true. It is the duty of all correct minded citizens of the world to increase their carbon footprint, NOW! Yes, it is true. You can help save the world. How? Buy an SUV, fly a private jet, cut down a tree, or in any other way possible increase the heat retaining green house gasses of the planet, NOW! Yes, it is true. God placed man on earth to create man made global warming to counter those times when the sun might dim. To understand how this can be, read this article, NOW! http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=10630 Will you do your part in the struggle ahead? Will help to save the world? If not, what kind of monster are you? The nonsense above is what the warning about global cooling would sound like if the scientists issuing the warning concerning global cooling were as non sensical as Al Gore and the global warming alarmists. Seriously, I find this global cooling cautionary warning credible. How about you?

Scientists have been warning about the possibility of another mini ice age for a lot longer than they have been jerking us around about global warming. Both things have happened in the past and can be scientifically proven. And man did not cause either of them to happen in the past either. This hype about global warming, is just a way for some folks to make a bunch of money. Which is the usual routine whenever there is a big scare about something. Money is behind it somewhere. The one I am waiting for is the big Polar Shift. The whole world will go nuts when that happens. It will certainly pay off to live in the south when that one happens. At least that seems to be the best scenario. And that has happened before and it is due to happen again any time now. Shalom~Salaam~Peace

There are so many things that could happen to end life on earth it is scary to think about it. Mostly, there is nothing we can do about it, either. The reversal of the magnetic poles of the earth is actually quite a scary one to me. It is overdue and completely unpredictable!

Well, I hope you are right about the pole shift being a non event. I don't have a source stating it would be fatal, only a recollection so I could very well be wrong.

I was under the impression that the Polar Shift was pretty much a non-event. From the most recent stuff I've read (granted, it is a couple of years old); it'll happen, and suddenly all our compasses will point in the opposite direction. Nothing drastic and world changing will happen. Though some animals that travel long distances may end up flying in the wrong direction... but we don't really know how that works either. Ho-hum. Damn it's hot today... hot in Feb! It's supposed to snow! *sigh*

Hello Redyellowblackdog :)) It is so hard to sift through these studies as they come out. To sort through them and try and find the truth in the theory. I do remember when I was in college that the focus was indeed on climate cooling, and have often the last ten years wondered where were all of those fanatics now? I at one time would have leaned more in this direction as far as a sensible belief. But my jury is still out on this topic, I need a tremendous amount of education at this point to make a call. Reading through the artical I found a poster that I want to quote here, What he had to say makes more sense then much I have read. QUOTE "The sensible thing to do promote conservation for our health and for our economy, not because of this sham called climate change. But most environmentalists aren't sensible. In fact, most, but not all, religions aren't sensible at all. Environmentalism is indeed a religion where God is nature." Just make changes because its the right thing to do.

The poster you quoted pretty much has it correct. Along this same line of thought. I get really tired of the people who think when I tell them man made global warming is insignificant that I am argueing for burning more fossil fuels and increased pollution. Thank you for the thoughtful response.

Have no fear, Angel! I have found, from a physicist, something to put your mind at ease. Yes, what you learned back then still holds true now: http://motls.blogspot.com/2008/01/2007-warmest-year-on-record-coldest-in.html Don't trade in that Parka yet!

Hello Red, Whew! After just posting a global cooling topic, I switched my attention to "Friends Discussions". I was concerned that I may have duplicated your post. After running a search for discussions on Global Cooling, the result was zero. Anyway, I'm glad that I didn't duplicate your effort. Another scientist, Dr. David Archibald, is in the recent news with a rather credible looking report about decling solar activity, and what it will mean for the Earth's food production. Archibald's findings are very much in line with those of: Timothy Patterson, Khabibullo Abdusamatov, and Kenneth Tapping. Based on the article that you have referenced here, it would seem that the same number of scientists are now warning about global cooling, as originally corroborated the IPCC report from the United Nations -- four in total. Though, my guess is that many more scientists are on board with the global cooling models than are alligned to the global warming models. Anyway, thanks for posting this discussion, as it further corroborates Dr. Archibald's findings. Plus, it lends credence to Archibald's launch into what that global cooling phenomenon might mean to the people of our planet.

One thing for sure, moderate global cooling will be a bigger problem than moderate global warming. Food supplies are not a minor consideration. Cooler really does mean less crops.

Sitting today, looking out at snow (on April 6th),and reading reports about blizzards affecting q lot of Scotland, all I can say is thank goodness for global warming, what would the climate be like without it. There are two main NATURAL causes of Climate Change, these are the distance between the earth and the sun, which has a cycle of 100,000 years, sometimes much closer to the sun - Global Warming, sometimes much further away - Global Cooling (causing ice-ages), AND the earth's tilt towards the sun approx 23.5 degrees but varies between 22.5 and 24.0 degrees over a period of 40,000 years. This tilt is the cause of different seasons, and the change in tilt can lead to one hemisphere getting warmer and the other colder. http://www.livescience.com/environment/050330_earth_tilt.html explains this better than I can.

My research into all of this confirms what you are saying. I will add that all the green house gas stuff does affect earth's temperature, just not as much as solar activity, distance from the sun, and tilt of the earth. These are responsible for the major changes. Greenhouse gasses are responsible for minor changes, like weather. (e.g. rain from the most famous of greenhouse gasses, H2O)

I do find this to be credible and possible. The Sun has everything to do with our climate and there is not a thing we can do to change that beyond preparing ourselves to live in a colder environment. It does make the Global Warming crowd appear somewhat foolish.

In 10 years you won't be able to find anyone to even admit they believed in 'global warming'.

we really have a lot of fun with this global warming? well, its all in sport as most people have not a clue what they are doing to mother earth..we have too many people and its getting worse..the world can only support so many people and then the world will be over populated, polluted, and live like the Fifth Element movie..if we don't blow ourselves up or use up all the food supply like in Soylant Green..we won't be around..someday this will all be a memory as we think of the ice age or the dark ages..have a nice day..enjoy yourself and i will too..what little things the individual can do won't make a tinkers damn

Thanks God, redyellowblackdog. We won't live 200 years later. Otherwise, we'll only find very harsh weather and environment. There will be no clean water, no various plants, no clean air, no many foods. Unless, man will have found a planet like our Earth before such things happen.

Actually, it is quite likely that in 200 years everything will be fine. Humans are quite adaptable and can modify their behavior. They often do.
