Vacuum or sweep?

Which do you prefer and which do you generally do?
Personally I like to sweep. I find it much more satisfying as I have a pile of dirt to look at. Sure it is a little harder sometimes (especially for carpet or rugs) but I still feel better after sweeping than vacuuming.
I know it might sound strange but think how much energy could be saved if everyone swept instead of vacuumed. I often think that in the future electricity rations due to shortages will be in place. If that ever happens manual labor will be increased so at least I will be prepared!

I have carpet in all my rooms in my house except the bathroom. I vacuum my carpet.If I had to sweep it it would take a long time.I do sweep my bathroom.A vacuum gets the dust out of the carpet better than sweeping it

In my bedroom I don't have any carpet. So I am forced to sweep. But I prefer to vacuum and I prefer carpet. Cause then with the carpet hairs and dirt isn't flying around. So it is easier...Side note. Once I worked at a miniature golf course. We we would vaccum the greens with a vacuum cleaner every so often. But they called it Sweeping, even though it was Vacuuming. I thought that was very odd.

I prefer sweeping as well. I have mostly hardwood floors in my house so its a given for me to do alot of sweeping. Hubby things I'm nuts when I sweep of the carpet but I usually run the vaccum over it twice a week and sweep it off the rest of the time. The only carpet is in bedrooms so I dont think there is a real need to vacuum them everyday since the only time we are in our room is to sleep :)
