"300" is based on a graphic novel (same name) by Frank Miller. Its about the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Where the King of Sparta (Leonidas)led his army against King Xerxes and his advancing Persians army. A film that's not historically accurate. For it possesses mystical elements that served as delicious eye hors d'oeuvres. You receive the visual delight of monster like creatures, giant elephants, a giant "God Like" Xerxes, and a oracle beauty. All displayed with wonderful CGI effects that blend reality and fiction splendidly. The computer created landscapes and scenery were beautiful, captivating, and finely crafted. The maximum enjoy factor, is its action and brutal violence. It holds vicious and graphic content, displaying a multitude of mutilating and buckets of blood. With slow motion sequences that artfully freezes, the fluidity and exhilaration of the adrenaline, in the war sequences. Yet also, the story at a crucial point, shows the turmoil & heartbreak that result from war and horrid acts of violence. With a solid story, "300" delivers engaging character development and a complete action thrill ride. Did you like the movie 300?

I liked it. With they effects they used they probably could have even made it more historically accurate & still made a great movie.

I loved the movie. Although it is obviously not historically accurate, I think this movie does a good job of showing a war through the side of the victorious underdogs. I think Xerxes army is made to look mythical to show how large and complex they are compared to the small spartan army. Like you said, this movie also shows how wars affect us personally and politically on the home front. Even though it is several thousand years after the event, these affects remain largely the same. But I love this movie for what it is. A good action war movie that is entertaining to watch. If you can get your mind around some of the over the top elements, then this movie is worth watching and enjoying. I actually bought is as Christmas presents I loved it so much.

*Warning* What I'm going to write about the movie "300" may be offensive to those who liked it. I appreciate the history aspect of the movie, I however realized that I just wasted 2 hours of my life watching this piece of work. The caption of the movie kept on mentioning that its a "graphic" story. You damn right it's graphic. It looks like the guy who just graduated from visual graphics school was happy go lucky about making this movie. He wanted to show the world what a good graphic arts he is, that he decided to make the movie so visually graphic, that it annoyed the turd out of me. On top of that, Leonidas and his men speak as though they are toddlers. "This is Sparta!" It kind of reminded me of my 2 year old daughter saying, "This is Teletubbies!"Oh... and the 300 hundred wore helmets, but they didn't wear pants?? They were in their underwear the whole time! And then all those nasty looking creatures really summed it up. I give this movie 2 thumbs and 2 big toes down.
