Stefen Fangmeier the director of "Eragon" should have stuck with being a Visual Effects Director. In this debut, he has given us a story that we can fall to sleep on, and has squandered the brilliant acting of Jeremy Irons and the potential of John Malkovich as an evil villain.
The story lacks any momentum, as well as fluidity. It is tedious and boring. The acting lacks life, (apart from Irons) and the story brings none of the excellent qualities that Christopher Paolini's novels held. Even for a children's story.. the novels had the magic to awake your curiosity. The movie, however, feels like an idea without proper direction.
The action scenes were missing excitement and were too brief to enjoy.
After waiting and hoping that its conclusion would fix the turbulent journey, they decided for a muddled rushed ending. Leaving the viewer empty and with out a pleasant feeling.
In an age of "Harry Potter" and "Lord of The Ring", this movie abundantly lacks any cinematic magic & fantasy.

John Malkovich was horrible, LOL! I've seen the movie twice and I think it's basically a recycled cliche of many other movies. Jeremy Irons was good, even if his character was quite predictable. I wouldn't truly recommend this movie, except maybe in a company of bored people who generally like fantasy movies. But John Malkovich... Better watch Being John Malkovich :) The man's a good actor. Sadly not here, not with those lines.
