What are you going to use your tax rebate for?

Since they passed the Economic Stimulas plan in the Senate, and Bush is supposed to sign it this week, most of us Americans should be recieving a rebate check come May or June. I read a poll where it said 54% of people said they were going to use it to pay off bills. Critics say that because people will not be using it to buy things that it won't really help the economy like they say. My husband and I talked about it and we have decided to use ours to put a much needed new heating system in our house, something that is a necessity. So what will you spend yours on? Will you catch up on bills? Buy something you always wanted? Or buy much needed neccessities?

Well, a lot of it overall, will be when we do ever get it, and how much, and then it will depend on what we need to do with it. We have considered putting a lot of it in the Bank as next yr. will be our 10 yr. Anniversary, and we are wanting to go back to New York City area, etc. and do some site seeing, etc. But until we really ever see the checks, we cannot say what we will do, and such as who knows if it will ever really happen? And if it is not going to make a difference in the Economy like many are suggesting, then I wish they could use that $$ to help for something that will really help stimulate the Ecomony again in these rough times.

Yeah, I agree, although it will be nice to get some money, I think this is just a band aid.

I will probably use most of it to pay off some on my credit card. I am going to try to save some so I can start saving to buy a new computer. Or maybe clothes. Although I should probably use it to fix some things on my car. Well, I guess I am not quite sure. But I would like to at least be able to buy one thing for myself.

LOL, I would love to buy something for myself too, but I guess a heating system should come first. *sigh*

I am not planing spending as long as I don't see money in my hand. I will probably give it for my family. My mother is recovering from cancer and she needs nurse to help her. I am in need as everyone else, but my mother has only one life...and her life is the most important for me know.

Unfortunately, I will have to split mine with my husband even though I made a disproportionate amount of the money that we lived on for a number of years. My half will go to pay off some bills. I keep getting further and further behind!

If it waits until May or June I may just go ahead and spend most of it on school supplies since I will have 4 of my 5 children in school. With clothes and all the school supplies they need nowadays it would be a convenient and smart way for me to spend the money. That way when school gets closer I don't have to worry about pinching a penny here and there. If I have any leftovers I will probably buy some new stuff for the house, like dishes and curtains.

At least you will have a head start, and won't have to be shopping at the last minute when all the stores are crowded.

I'm just a kid, so I'll be spending it to get myself a Pocket (a mini motorcycle, since I can't get a regular sized one, being as small as I am, and because it's easier to get something that's still classified as a scooter under law) -- in order to get a job and help my family out with bills. A necessity. But the rest of my family will be spending the money on bills. Not much help from us for the economy, I'm afraid. But then..the whole rebate thing wasn't that great a plan anyways, unfortunately :( Jus' putting a bandaid on a gaping wound.

I know the idea is to spend it and stimulate the economy, i.e. Economic Stimulas Plan. However, hubby and I will probably put it in savings. As it stands right now, our need/want for material items does not out weight our need to have a cushion to catch us when we fall on our financial butts.
