The UFO Controversy

The UFO sightings in Stephenville Texas, last month has once again brought this issue to the forefront. Many people are wondering if the government is keeping information from the public. It is said that more than eighty million Americans believe that there is life on other planets, so if information is being kept from us, what would be the reason for doing so? Would there be widespread panic? Would it change some of our beliefs about God? Like most people, I believe that it's quite probable that there is intelligent life out there somewhere. I also think that there may be some who are far more advanced than we are, so why would it be strange that they might be watching us, as well as other life forms somewhere else. Surly the day has passed when we can say that such things are impossible.

Many of us are open minded & would be fine with the idea of life on other worlds. Others would find their whole world crashing down & who knows what they'd do! Which group was it that believed there was a spaceship following the comet & commited seuicide in order to go out & meet it? If there is intelegent life out there hopefully their smart enough to avoid this planet.

Hi uath, Thanks for commenting. I guess the knowledge that we are not alone, would be too much for some people to handle. I have no doubt about intelligent life out there, as the idea that their isn't just wouldn't make sense. Blessings.

i really don't get this. i've been a fanatic of life on other planets ever since i was in my teen years. when i was in college i even did an intense research about this together with my very close friend. we would spend weeks even months hunting and going to places where there has been a recorded sightings of these beings. i would always see a troglodyte (an alien specie) in my dreams. and everywhere in the net there are always testimonies from people who have been in contact or experienced unexplainable phenomena regarding aliens. i just don't understand why people in the authority needs to hide these things from the common people. it's like bluntly saying that we are dumb. dumb enough to even comprehend. or maybe the reason why they are hiding these things from us is because they are scared we might find them incompetent. afraid that we might say "WOW" to those visitors and compare the technology we have from them and say, "are we really that obsolete? arewe really that far behind?"

Hi loudhummer, Thank you for commenting. I believe there is intelligent life out there, nothing else makes sense. We may be very far behind some of them, and I do wonder how some people would react to the knowledge that we were being watched. Blessings.

Something eminant is on the horizon. Whether It's our own government ( personally this is what I suspect ) Or something else. I can feel it. It's coming soon too. This will rock people to their core! It will change everything they know.

Hi agfarm, I believe that there is intelligent life out there, and it seems we may have had visitors. I am concerned how many people would react if they were to discover the truth. Blessings.

Well, is probably possible that there is life in other planets ,but at the same time is strange that by now we don't know of any life form. I don't think the government could do such a good life hiding this from us. If there was life in other planets I think that we would know by now.

Hi Mirita, Thank you for commenting. The possibility that we are alone is very remote, but can you imagine how some people would react if they knew we were being watched? Someday we may know more. Blessings.

Hi, pose... its been a while... hope you are well. For open-minded people, finding another inhabited planet would be an adventure. But for those who live in fear, they assume that this would be a threat... it eases their minds to believe that we are superior in the universe. With infinite possibilities available, why would any god create just one planetful of life, and leave the others barren?

Hi alamode, Thank you for responding. Actually, I've been battling a cold for the past little while, and haven't been as active here on myLot. Thanks for asking too. Back to the discussion, I agree that there would likely be some problems with certain people if they were told that we weren't alone. Blessings.

A number of years ago I had a work colleague who became quite well known for his books and TV programmes in the UK about UFOs. He had spent some time working for the Ministry Of Defence's UFO desk. He was categoric that 99.9% of all UFO "sightings" could be explained. What worried him was the 0.01% that couldn't! There are universes out there that we know nothing about. I think that at least statistically, there could well be some other intelligent life form out there. However, they would have exactly the same problems as humans in mounting expeditions to "Boldy go...". Personally I don't buy Roswell et al, but who knows?

Hi plkefish, Thank you for your interesting comments. I agree that there are universes out there that we know nothing about, and the chances of there not being intelligent life is very remote. I see no reason why some of them may not be far more advanced than us. I think there is good reason to fear how many people would react to the knowledge that we are not alone. Blessings.

I just think the government believes they are trying to protect us but they are not with all of their lies. All it does is make people suspicious.

Hi starr4all, Thank you for commenting. Of course many of us would be able to handle the truth, but some people might go a little crazy. Blessings.

The UFO sightings in Stephenville Texas…where can I know more about this? Ever since the time I saw ET in my growing years, I have always been fascinated by the Extra Terrestrial. I have read of many such sightings but they were mainly records of previous sightings. But since you say this happened last month (jan 08?) I am very excited to know the details. In this age when we have become more scientifically aware of our surroundings, it is kind of difficult to fool very many people out there. Yet the govt is apprehensive of repercussions on the general public until and unless it is absolutely sure of its claim. And then the entire world is there too! Not only local citizens, the govt has to convince the entire world of its claims. So it think it is being cautious with its data.

Hi sudiptacallingu, Thank you for commenting. Yes, it is very interesting, the idea that we are alone has never made sense to me. I am concerned how some people will react when they learn the truth, but of course that may be far into the future. Blessings.

I wouldn't be surprised if the government knew something and wasn't telling us. It's highly possible there is life on Mars. Reports coming out daily are telling us that it is possible. There is no telling what the future holds.

Hi kareng, Thank you for responding. There may not be life on Mars, but think of the billions of other planets. The chances of our being alone are very slim. Blessings.

Who knows what the reason is for it, but I sure do think it's possible for the government to be covering things up. I don't think there would be widespread panic but I think the government doesn't think we can handle the truth or else they have plans for the information they're hiding from us and they don't want anyone interfering with those plans. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were someone else "out there"; I think I'd be more surprised if Earth was the only planet where there's life. Annie

hey pose it is logical that there is intelligent life out there. i do not know why the government (army) is keeping information from us. but i do know from my life experience, that usually when a country discover somthing, they first think how this information can help them. i am sure they do not want other countries to have this information, because mybe it can become a certain weapon. like almost everything is becoming this days. but lets think of another aspect: people have a hard time dealing with any "ab- normalities" do you really think they would be able to cope with this information. i am sure there will be panic. but the most important question is: does someone have the right to hide information from the other? who decides of that? and if so under what title they justify that? i presume they justify that under the "safety of the people" title. it is a very complicated issue.

Hi liranlgo, Thank you for commenting. A lot of people would probably panic, just think of some of the strange things that some people believe. Blessings.

There is of course, the other theory that many of these 'UFOs' are actually government experiments, which could also explain why they are not so open about revealing more. But if it were true, it would also mean that so far they have been failing repeatedly because it seems like they aren't able to make use of any of this technology (if they were really experiments).
