We don't have medical/dental insurance and we are looking into getting some. Just wondering which are the best insurance companies? We don't want a deductible that we have to pay first unless it is something we can pay. lol $6000 deductible is NOT doable for us. Any help would be appreicated. Thanks

I see you are in Kenner. I live in Harahan. Anyways, one of the guys where I work has a plan through Oschner for himself and one of his kids. He says that it runs about $80/month. I don't know much about it but I am sure if you call Oschner they can give you more information. There is a dental discount plan that is awesome (I have used it in the past) called DentaMax (http://www.dentamaxplus.com/dentamaxplus/index.html). They are out of the Metairie area. For a fee (it is $100/year for a family) you get a plan that offers discounts on dental, vision, prescription, etc. Even though you don't get the free check ups at the dentist, it knocks the price down to about $18 and this even covers adult orthodontics (saved me $1500 off my braces).

For the DentaMax, you can pay on that monthly. $10/month for your entire family is not bad for some form of dental. My husband and I pay $50 to cover just him & I through his plan at work.

They might be. I do not know that much about health care. We have been lucky enough to have continuous coverage through our jobs.

Thank you so much! I will look into this. I thought Humana One was with Oschner, but it doesn't hurt to find out more. Thanks again :)

Yes I agree that is very rediculous!! I found insurance for us for $200 a month, but we have to pay $6000 deductible before the insurance kicks in and I don't thing that is fair!! I still don't have insurance, so why pay for it if I have to continue to pay before it kicks in. lol There has to be some way of getting insurance without going bankrupt!
