I know that they are out of season, but I have been having this craving for a few days now. Smart and Final has the best fruit cake I have ever tasted. Do you ever crave things that are not in season? What do you do about it? I wonder if I can find a good one on the internet, he, he.

Some of the mail order places that sell fruit, nuts, cheese balls and beef sticks have good fruit cakes. I would do some looking. That is funny how you mention fruit cake. My Aunt from out your way is making fruit cake and is going to send me some. She lives in Oxnard, CA, about an hour from you. She waited till after Christmas to make it, I hope she hurries up and makes and sends it, I didn't have any this season. I like fruit cake too.

I can't think of the name of it. My mom buys from there, I will try to remember to ask her and then I will let you know. Its late here or I would call her now. You could check Hickory Farms, or Figi's. The name of the place she buys hers from is on the tip of my tongue. I will probably remember the place when I go to bed. I will let you know.

Yeah I do. I like fruit cake myself. This week I have been craving peacan pie. I might make myself one sometime this week or after I have my eye surgery this Thursday.

It sounds like a lot of fun to make Pecan Pie. It is usually too sweet for me, so I end up eating just the Pecans, hehe.

Yes, I long to cook all the time. I really miss my cooking. Hopefully, I will be getting my own place soon and I will be able to cook the things that I like to eat.

Yeah i was on this south beach diet with my husband where is not aloud any sugar for 2 weeks and gosh i had really those bad craving for sweets. but finally we find those sgar free chocolates and sugar free pudings, so that safe me. The book says that the craving should go away but i guess i am reall chocoholic, because i have craving every day and i just cannot work normal without having at least a little bit of chocolate every day.

I am a sugar addict. I have to have my sugar all the time. I will have no choice but to start working to break this habit in a few more weeks. I have faith that it will be easy.

I'm sure you could get a recipe from allrecipes.com if you're not able to find one online...strangely we have never had fruit cake with Christmas...I've always heard people talking about them, and I've seen them, but I've never actually had one...that's probably just as strange as wanting one in February!

Actually, they sell them year around at mail order places. But, I have never ordered food from one of these places, so I wanted to know which one had the best one. I am not able to cook where I live at the moment.

Hi Rozie dear! haha.. that is really out of season but I do wish you luck in finding a fruit cake in this time of year. It does really feels good to get your cravings satisfied! hehe.. I do have cravings and some time I do get it especially when my husband helps me out in looking for one however, most of the times, the cravings just disappear when I really feel that it is impossible to find what I am craving for when it is out of season. Good luck dear and I really hope you can satisfy your cravings. Take care and have a nice day! :)

Um, I'm pregnant, so cravings go with the territory. Most of the time I want Macca's, but living where I do, not always possible. Here, not every store is open 24 hours a day.

Your crazy! I don't know how anyone can eat that stuff... there's a good song by The Arrogant Worms off there Christmas album about fruit cake, you should give it a listen some time. I'm cure you should find a recipe and make it yourself. But is it really fruit cake if it's fresh? I thought the good stuff needed some time to age a little.

Ha, I am not crazy, just a little touched. I would probably attempt to make one if I could, I love to bake new recipes. But alas, I do not live in a traditional home, so I can't. You might be right about it needing to age, but I wonder how long?
