There is a backlog of FBI checks on green card applicants waiting to be approved, so Bush is going to grant permanent residency to tens of thousands of them without the FBI check. Is this a good idea? I'm not sure what to think. The article DOES say they have already been cleared in automatic fingerprint data bases.

These immigrants are LEGAL and as I was at one time a legal immigrant I know how much is checked in a persons background, fingerprints etc., prior to the name check and they will only receive a green card/permanent residency. There is still a long way to go before receiving citizenship. I have nothing against trying to help peple who are legally here in the U.S. it is all these millions of ILLEGAL immigrants that total burn my A$$!

I just noticed one of the tags says "permanent citizenship" that is totally incorrect as permanent residency (green card) has nothing to do with citizenship!!!

This is so sad Bush is just trying to screw up our country even more before he gets out of office

Even though they have been cleared through finger prints, I still think it would be best to do a detailed background check. Never know what they would find.

No No No Not a good idea at all..That is why Bush does not need to be there...I think anyone that becomes a resident of thos country should be checked out by FBI means...He does not know anything about these people unless they are checked out...

In this particular case I think it's ok. They are LEGAL immigrants and as you stated, have already been through the fingerprint database check.
It'd be a whole different story if it were ILLEGAL immigrants and/or ones that had not been through any type of check at all. -Tink
