Where do you buy flowers?

I love flowers. Absolutely adore them. I used to work in San Francisco and at that time on every street corner you could pick up a bouquet for so little. I pampered myself with them constantly Since then the cost of flowers has gone up so much. I was in the grocery store the other day and the roses that they normally sell for $9.99 were $25.99 because of Valentines Day. Thats quite a hike in price, but they know that people will pay it as a gift for their loved ones. I never buy flowers from a florist, because they too seem to have extrodinarily high prices. On a normal day the grocery stores often have great deals. Sometimes 3 for $12.00, at any rate less than a florist. Do you buy flowers for yourself or as a gift very often or for someone else and if so do your prefer a florist or the grocery store or market?

Trader Joe's on occasion. A good bouquet from a florist, though, should last up to a month, whereas usually the supermarket ones only last a few days. So usually instead of buying fresh flowers I just go to a nursery and buy the potting plants in bloom as I cannot stand to see the cut flowers die.

I've never shopped at Trader Joes and didn't know they sold flowers. Going to the nursery is a good idea.

Whoa, check Trader Joe's out! They have some wonderful items and while a bit of it is pricey, overall they are quite reasonable. Be sure to try their own label of Cream top yogurt...it is as good as Brown Cow at about 1/3rd the price. We love that store and miss it so much when we are out here in the "wilderness" -- You are lucky, too, to have a Whole Foods store near you.

I don't buy flowers very often anymore becasue it is a little bit of a waste of money you buy flowers for an expensive price and then they die several days later. I usually buy a pretty plant I like to buy them at the florist they look nicer in there than what the grocery stores have.

Doesn't matter to me. I'll pay the price from a grocery store even if it doesn't mean they will last that long. Even those few days is worth the cost to me.

To be honest I very rarely buy flowers, I don't have a loved one and I never have flowers in my room, I will occasionally bring them for my mum who loves carnations and especially on her birthday, Mothers Day or Christmas. I will buy them from the supermarket where I do my shopping as they are very reasonably priced. For close relatives who I don't see I use online flower services like flying flowers which are expensive, but you get what you pay for and it's a great idea sending flowers

It is a wonderful way to say how much you care when you take the trouble to send flowers and I don't know a woman alive who would not appreciate receiving them.

Even though I love flowers, I hardly buy them these days. I used to buy and adorn my room with them when I was in college, no particular reasons for not doing so these days. Now I have turned to buying the artificial ones, no doubt, it cannot replace the real ones. But having some flowers is better than not having anything.

I love flowers and there is nothing like having them around the house. Its also a wonderful felling when you receive them as a gift. I do have some artificial flowers, but they are difficult to clean I think

I do occasionally buy myself flowers. If I do it's usually at Walmart for they have beautiful bouquets of flowers relatively inexpensive and so it doesn't feel like you are spending too much. If I order them I usually do if from a florist. The professional touch is much appreciated by the reciever.

Yes, I have noticed flowers at Walmart. I'm from California and where I lived the Walmart didn't have a flower selection. Since I moved to Arizona, I've noticed that they carry them, but haven't purchased them to date.

If I have to get flowers for someone far away I use 1800flowers.com but if they are for my husband or someone near me then it's Wal Mart cause they are actually nice and not that expensive. My husband buys me flowers all the time from Wal Mart.

Sounds like you have a wonderful husband. Lucky you. My boyfriend buys me flowers when he can afford them, but its been awhile. Perhaps tomorrow for Valentines day.

A lady I know put herself through a college course on floristry and business in her late 50's and set up her own florists and if I am buying flowers for someone else I always get them from her and get her to deliver them, she always goes all out to give you the most stunning bouqet for your budget and needs and keeps her prices as low as she can! It is a lot more than the supermarkets charge but her flowers are always fresh and last a lot longer - they also smell like real flowers which you don't often get from supermarket flowers! xxx

You are right about that, alot of times the store flowers don't have much of a smell, and there is nothing like the smell of roses. I was in the store the other day and saw some hyacinths. Those have the most wonderful fragrance.
