The writer's strike has finally ended and, with any luck, we'll be seeing new episodes of our favorite shows before the end of this century! What are your thoughts on the strike and it finally coming to an end? Are you satisfied that the writers got what they wanted the most, are you angry at the writers for having gone on strike to begin with, messing up your regular TV viewing routine or are you more or less indifferent to the whole thing? I supported the writers totally from the beginning and while I'm very happy it's over I'm also glad they held out for what they believed in and what they deserved. Annie

First, they didn't effect my t.v. viewing. My favorite show is L.A. Ink. Second, I am always with the artists over the suits. I am always for labor over management. I Knew they would have to give the writers what they wanted.Without Good writing, there aren't any good shows ,plays or movies. What I am proud of is that the actors backed the writers. That meant the world to me. It symbolizes that there are More real actors in Hollywood than just stars.A real actor Knows he needs great writing. A star doesn't care.

Thanks for making such a great point about the actors. I couldn't agree more. I'm also always with the artists and with labor. I've heard it all about needing someone to take the risks and create the jobs but where would they be without the ones to create the stories and shows or to do the real work? Absolutely nowhere, that's where! Annie

I'm glad they settled their dispute. I know the writers were asking for something reasonable. The studios were playing hardball. I don't know what the final settlement is, but, I'm sure glad that Hollywood is back into full swing. Normally, I don't support unions. I think unions sometimes abuse their powers to the demise of businesses. But this time, I supported the WGA!

I must respectfully disagree with your comment about unions. I think it's much more common for management to abuse their powers at the expense of the people who do the real work! Union workers have always been the backbone of this nation and they've really taken a beaten in recent years. That's not to say there haven't been unions who have made unreasonable demands but in general they're the only thing protecting workers from being forced to work for low wages, non-existent benefits and in unsafe and unhealthy conditions. Look at the coal miners! Annie

It truly is about time, and now we can get back to real TV. Honestly, I was getting tired of their being nothing on TV to watch as everything was repeats. And the nice thing will be now when shows usually go in Repeats, there will hopefully be New shows in their place this yr. making up for the long strike they had.

I sure do hope you're right because I've had my fill of reruns! It got to where I'd seen all the shows that I normally don't watch because one of my favorites is on opposite them, so I didn't even have those shows which were at least new to me. Annie

As a writer I was in full support of them standing up for their rights. Plagiarism and abuse of writer's work is something we need to be vigilant about. The fact that viewers had to be inconvenienced for awhile was of no never mind to me. For the amount of television David and I watch we didn't feel shortchanged at all. We were rooting for the underdogs...even though I heard that it was poor negotiating that made it drag on as long as it did. Whatever the reason I, like you am happy to know we will be back for fresh programming soon. Hope all is well with you. I have been busy with work and house projects and haven't been positing discussions. I decided to drop around to valued friends sites and support them they way they always do with me. I value your support and interest in my topics and it is nice to be here sharing in yours. Take care my friend, Raia

Thanks so much for stopping by, Raia. I heard that too about poor negotiating. It should have been a no-brainer as far as I'm concerned but I guess there's no limit to the greed and arrogance of some of those in power, is there? Where would they be without the writers? Nowhere! I hope everyone appreciates them more now; I know I sure will. Annie

I am so happy for you Annie! I know that this has caused you some grief. I do not watch TV, but I know if someone took my books away or my CDs away I would feel the way you have been feeling. So, hopefully those writers have not been just sitting on their butts doing nothing. They hopefully have been doing some thinking and writing in preparation for this day, and are ready to jump right back into the thick of things! Shalom~Salaam~Peace

I'm glad the strike is finally over and that the writes have finally gotten the recognition they deserve. But it has made watching TV this season absolutely dreadful. I can't wait for new episodes either.

This writer's strike did not only affect our television shows. There are thousands of jobs that took a tumble and many families were starting to hurt. Remember there were caterers, drivers, painters, carpenters, security guards, and yes the toilet truck people (chuckle), and still the list goes on. And that's not including the small-time actors like my son and interns like my daughter who were basically driving me nuts at home. LOL. I am very happy it's all over.

Good point. Nobody ever thinks of these people. They don't make anywhere near what the writers do. What about the cameraman? Best boy, grips, hairdressers, make-up artists, costume designers, set designers.... those writers but a lot of people out of work for months on end. What gave them the right to do that?

It's so true nobody ever thinks about all the other workers who don't make nearly the money the writers do so they've got to be really hurting. Thanks for pointing that out and reminding us. Annie

Now things will get back to normal. I am tired of reality shows, I know the TCM Oscar Winning Movies by heart, I have a weight problem so watching cooking shows for me is dangerous. I want to see what is going on in my favorite shows. I am sick of half seasons. Now I can find what is happening on on all the CSI, NSIS, LOST, without having to see re runs. I wonder if they are going to extend the seasons to make up for the lost time. They should have settled the strike sooner.

Well, I am glad it's over. I do support their right to strike, but I am glad they finally settled it. At least with a Union they can demand better wages and benefits. Try doing that with a non union company, they would tell you there's the door.

I am super happy that the strike is over although i read that new episodes won't start until April so we still have to wait a couple of more months. I am a huge fan of Prison Break and they are supposed to stop making new episodes of the show which bothered me a lot. I know the late show guys are glad their writers are back!! Yipee!!

YES!!!!! OK, where are the writers for Heroes? Please tell me they are already at their desks, hard at work at this very moment, churning out episodes that will answer questions that have been burning in the minds of fans for months.

It is nice they ended it and people can get back to work and shows will resume. Though it is not all that big a deal as a lot of the shows I don't watch or care for. By this time next year won't have a t.v to watch can't afford a new one or the converter thingy even with a coupon.

I'm glad the strike is over. I understand why they had to strike. I'm glad both sides were able to put aside their differences finally and put an end to these re- runs.

You may very well be right but if that's true and they pursued writing as a career they would no doubt have been on strike with the current Writers' Guild members. I guess I don't see what your point is. Annie
