When you go into a room and do you turn on the light? Do you remember to turn them off when you leave the room? As an adult I do this but when I was a kid I never did it and I used to get into trouble for it. My kids did the same thing when they lived at home. But I never gave them any trouble, I always just talked to them about it. Now I always turn the lights off but my husband is bad for leaving them on. I keep asking him to turn them off, but he just doesn't remember to. Oh well, he is the one paying the bills.

Well as a kid, I never remembered to turn off lights and my mom never told me anything about it. So guess I took it for granted. But now that I am on my own and paying my bills, I always remember to keep the lights switched off when not using. Of course my son forgets (like me) but I am always reminding him so maybe he will grow up more responsible. Hubby switches them off too (he also knows the value of money lol!)

Its taken a while, but we are all now in the habit of turning lights off when we leave a room, this is mainly because we all dont want earache off the man of the house when we do accidentally forget!! But I must say I do notice the difference in the amount of electric we use so its a good thing.

I don't necessarily turn on the lights when I go into a room. The only one I always do is my main bath...there are no windows in there! It's dark-dark! lol But no, my Mother taught me very well to turn the lights off. It didn't take for my oldest daughter, though. She turns lights on in the daytime and leaves them on. I am constantly going around turning them off for her. lol My youngest daughter's house drives me nuts. She has 3 children and everything in the house is on all the time! Lights, TV's...drives me up the wall!

I used to get into trouble too for not turning the lights off when I left the room. But now I remember. My kids remember most of the time, about 85%. My husband is really good about it. The only time when I leave them on is if my husband isn't home at night. Crazy huh.

Now that I own my own home. I always turn off my lights. Sometimes people don't even know that I am home because it is so dark in my house. I like it like that. For a four month period my Electric Bill was $ 154.00. I work at a Health Centre, I am always running around turning lights off behind people.

My brother has this bad habit of leaving the lights on, so it's up to me to always remind him to turn it off. He never listens to what I say, making me the one who turns them off every time he forgets. It's such a pain to do but just thinking of the amount of energy we could've saved and how much it costs.. I just wish he'd be the one to do it instead of me.

My dad is forever turning off lights! I will go out of my bedroom and go into the bathroom and if my dad comes upstairs 9 times out of 10 he'll turn my light out even though I am going back in there! I am sure it costs more to keep switching lights on and off than it does leaving them on? Once or twice I have been quiet and the light has been on and he's turned it off LOL! But yeah you are right he is paying the bills, yet he has the television on 18 hours a day, go figure!!!

I can remember my grandmom telling me everytime I turn on the light it cost five cents. I thought wow thats expensive. I use real small lights and mostly candles at night in the winter time. I think it looks so cozy! So the only light I have to turn off is my kitchen light.

Yes, it's habit, I almost always turn the light off when I leave the room. Supposedly though it costs more money turning the lights on all the time rather than just leaving it on. I don't know how true this holds, but I've heard alot of people say it.

I have been accustomed to doing that. When I was a child my my mother always remind me to turn off lights when not in used. She is very conscious on electricity saving and I become one too as I grow up.

Turning lights off in the house is a mission of mine. The biggest problem I have is my husband loves to turn lights on and leave them on. One day I came home at Noon and every light in the house was on, even our bedroom light, and he was in bed asleep! (I was very angry that day.)

hi, I always turn off the light when I leave the room. but if I go into a room that has big windows that enable the sunlight to enter the room, I usually don't turn on the light, unless it is dark or it is at night. I have done this since I entered junior high school, my parents also do the same thing. this has become our habits at home anyway.

I thought that I read somewhere that it costs more to turn the light off and then back on than it does to leave it on. Now that may be a myth. My husband seems to have all the lights on in the entire house all the time, it drives me nuts! I do turn the lights off when I leave a room out of habit from living with my parents.
