do you think the horse and buggy might come back in security for patrols would save gas for the states if they would in some of those back land areas would'nt you think so plus would give ranchers more work?

the Amish here do use horse and buggies . and the Meninites. but most back roads are no paved and is very hard on horses hoofs even if shod. BUt then peopel wouldnt stand for it for they have so far to go to work now if the Government would give back the land to the ranchers they might make a better liveing raising horses. but they probably could never raise enough to outfit us all and people dont have places to keep them they have built the houses to close together

I'm an old Farmer who knows Horses. I used to work with Horses, and as a kid it was my job to clean the stables. There is No way horses will ever come back. When I worked with Horses a 10 acre field was Big, because it took several days and 2 teams to plough 10 acres. Nowadays a hundred acres is a small field and one big tractor can do it in an afternoon. The world would Starve big-time if we were reduced to Horse-power again. Also horses eat Oats and Hay! The land which would be required to feed the horses would shrink the food producing acreage, and create a food shortage. (even more so than ethanol which is already driving up food prices.)

the only place I know of that it is still in use is in the Amish country of PA. I couldn't believe it when I actually saw one out on the rode. There are also many wrecks that happen between the buggies and vehicles, not good outcomes usually. I can't see the horse and buggy coming back into use, we have become a very mobile society.
