My dog has a swollen face and I am worried about him.

I woke up this morning to discover my dog's face was all swollen on the right side. We rushed him to the vet to discover he also has a high temperature and they are keeping him for observation. The hardest thing is having to wait to find out if he will be ok. I don't know what caused it. My partner said he may have been bitten by a dog 2 days ago but there was no sign of swelling until this morning. He was not eating yesterday but we did not know it was so serious. I just hope he is ok. Has anyone else had a problem like this?

I hope and pray that he is OK too Sharral. I am in Pennsylvania and we have ticks. Causes swelling and temp. I lost a dog to it because the vet did not prescribe an antibiotic which would have saved her. I have learned not to try to pull a tick off with my fingers. If the ticks head does'nt come out and the blood goes back into the dog, that is what can kill. Not eating, no energy all of a sudden, high temp., and massive swelling of the closest glands to the infected site. Antibiotics clears it right up today though. Good luck and keep us posted please.

I thought it might be a tick but the vet said no. I lot a dog just before Christmas to a tick and I am scared about this one. He is only 4 and usually so lively. The swelling came up so suddenly. My partner said there was no sign of it at 3 am this morning so it happened some time in the next few hours. The vet gave him 3 injections. One antibiotic, one pain killer and one to bring down his temperature but kept him for observation to make sure he recovers. I won't know anything till tomorrow but I hope he is ok.

We got cerby back from the vet's this morning and I now know what happened. He was bitten by a dog it seems and the dog's tooth pierced his eye. My partner says a dog snapped at him on his walk on tuesday but did not think that it had actually bitten him and there was no sign of a wound for us to see but he nearly lost his third eyelid. We are told it will grow back in time. He is still very ill but on the road to recovery we hope. He is not happy with us for leaving him at the vet's either. We have 3 medications to give him, a pain killer, an antibiotic and an ointment for his eye. This will be a challenge. I do hope he mends soon. I want to see him bright and happy again.

Oh my I sure hope he is doing better. I haven't been through that yet- but believe me I have the dog with the most issues....lol. She is allergic to EVERYTHING and breaks out in hives over anything- I know the fear I went through the first time that happened to her. Please let us know how he is doing :)

Oh, I've never had such a problem with our dog, fortunately. I'm sorry and I hope your dog gets better soon.

He is on the mend. We are picking him up from hospital today. I will post when I find out more about how he is. But the good news is that he is going to be ok.
