Side Effects

February 14, 2008 5:38pm CST
I have had epilepsy since I was 9 months old, and I'm now soon to be 29. The way I look at it, I have had seizures all my life. I have been on MANY different kinds of medication, and every single one of the has given me side effects. With some, I was having a harder time learning things, I was very violent with some medications, and also having lots of thought of suicide. Other side effects that tend to effect me is depression, and worriness. I seem to over do it many times when it comes to being depressed, and worried. All the medications I have taken has been.....Carbamazipine, Dilantin, Neurontin, Topamax, Keppra, and Phenobarbital. After almost 30 years of this, I am finally going for brain surgery towards the end of this year.

I'd love to know how your brian surgery went. I realize it was awhile ago now seeing by the tag,but I had surgery in January and mine was unsuccessful. I hope you were more fortunate than me, but either way I'd love to talk to you.

what will they be doing with the brain surgery? I know that is a pretty big decision to make. My boyfriend has epilepsy also, and had considered surgery but opted not to do it. They have him on Neurontin tegratol right now. He was on Depakote and trileptal, and had some bad side effects on those, but strangely since he's switched he hasn't noticed any bad side effects atall. I hope that hte surgery works well for you.
