Not only do I believe in destiny... I took absolute control of my destiny in the earlier stages of my life. My experience - When young, I wanted to come face-to-face with God in this very life. I wanted to travel the path taken by Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ and Prophet Mohammed. I was just 11 years of age when I converted my desire to conviction. At 13 years of age I had finally decided to leave in search of God. I asked of my mother for permission. She did not grant permission to leave the house. As destiny would have it I started in search of God from the precincts of my house. Every single act of my karma was directed toward searching for God. I completed my engineering, settled in my own profession, married and had beautiful children... yet, all my energies always remained directed in search of God. I met many people in this life who may have been the strangers. Yet as destiny would have it whatever best I could gather from each one... was my destiny! I had no guru (spiritual master) to guide me. Ultimately I begged of Almighty God to become the lighthouse of my spiritual path. He agreed. At 37 I reached the ultimate of spiritual life. Having taken control of the five senses and the mind, practicing absolute celibacy for a period of 12 years, following the path of Neti (not this, not this) as practiced and advocated by Maharishi Ramana... I finally achieved what I wanted to achieve. On the third of August 1993 I came face-to-face with God. The complete gist of all sacred scriptures existing on Mother Earth became like ABC to me. I had gained self realization. This is my last (8.4 millionth) manifestation. When I started in search of God I had absolutely no idea about destiny and fate. Ultimately, I had my destiny absolutely under wraps. I had finally won the end. In our present life... we only meet souls' atmans with whom we had contact in earlier lives. It is because of the residual balance of karma. Until a small percentage of karma between two souls atmans remain... the two keep meeting in every future manifestation. This is what doctrine of karma is all about.

I believe in destiny to some extent. I think some of the things in life your are destined for, but you do play a role in influencing your fate. It's like how you play the cards you are dealt. You are dealt a hand of cards. That is your destiny. How you play them is your role in your destiny.;)

I believe in kind of destiny - I don't think that everything is already decided like some people believe. I think that things tend to happen in some way - that's destiny... and that we can change this by doing something. that we can influence things that otherwise tend to happen in some way.
