American Idol "Plants"

So there is a new revelation that I just heard about this season of American Idol that has me a little upset. There are MANY people who made it to the top 24 that have either had a record deal already or who have opened shows for big names singers. Why should they get a spot over someone who has no ties to the music industry? What is American Idol trying to do? Make us buy albums that we didn't want to but 5 years ago? Who are they really working for? For more information, check out this website... www.votefortheworst.com/americanidol7contestants. Now I don't know who I am going to vote for!

I was starting to worry about it until I read what website this was from. I wouldn't take anything that website says at face value. Their whole goal is to ruin AI as it is. They purposefully always vote for the worst person to stay on so people who are much better singers get sent home.

ok...try this website. I saw this one on yahoo first then I took the link to the other site. newmusic.yahoo.com/blogs/realityrocks/13980/irish-idol-smithsons-secret-past Also, try googling Carly Hennessy (Smithson's maiden name)and see what you come up with. I've known that AI is rigged since Chris Daughtry lost. I still enjoy the show, but I know that the most talented and the most deserving people will not win.

I wouldn't go with rigged, it's just the voting system sucks to no end. People purposly vote for the suckies people.

Keep the spirit of looking for undiscovered talent and don't vote for those professionals. They've already had their chance. :)

The whole point of American Idol is to sell albums. They are working for the record company behind American Idol. Both Chris Doughtery (I can't spell) and Taylor Hicks had music careers before Idol, and that did not bar them from entry. I imagine that there is a clause that says that you can not have an album that have produced over a certain amount of copies. It is how writing contests decide who is a "new writer" and who is not. One contest (writing) that I entered had a five thousand mark; if none of your stuff was printed or viewed over that amount you were still considered to be a new writer. I am probably still going to vote for her. I vote on the basis of what I think of the singer's voice, and not who "Vote for the Worst" wants to win.
