Do you eat wheat germ? how do you use it? I like to sprinkle some on top of my ice cream or yogurts, it is a scrumptious addition... do you sprinkle it on your foods or do you bake with it?

When I have wheat germ on hand, I sprinkle it on yogurt, oatmeal like just mentioned and whatever else looks right at the time. I also use it in meatloaf, brownies, cookies and breads like banana and carrot breads. You just reminded me, in fact, that I haven't had it around since we moved. wht

I have heard about adding it to meatloaves - I am curious though - how much do you put in? a tablespoon or two or more?

At least a couple tablespoons, no more than a quarter cup though.

thank you for the best response. I haven't used wheat germ in awhile and this reminded me I have got to include some in my shopping soon.

I have actually not used wheat germ. I probably should start to use it, as I've heard it has many health benefits. I have heard that it is a great source of vitamin E, which helps our skin. It is supposedly great to add to dishes when one has cut meat from their diets too. It is rich in fiber and zinc as well. How does it taste in the dishes to which you have added it?

I started putting it on my ice cream when I was a preteen more than 30 years ago - it is very good! it adds a bit of a crunch and a wholesome nuttiness.... not bad on yogurt either i was not aware of all these nutritional values, thanks!

I have an oatmeal cookie recipe that has wheat germ as one of the ingredients. I've also sprinkled it on yogurt.

I sprinkle some on my cereal and also when I make a peanut butter sandwich I will sprinkle some on the peanut butter. Yogurts taste good with it also, there are many uses for it and it is a healthy additive to your foods.

i made cream of wheat cookies the other day since we were out of flour...they turned out pretty good, kind of chewy/grainy, but still good nonetheless. I would share the recipe here with you, but I didn't measure a darn thing out to tell you how I did it, but here's an ingredient list: 1 stick of butter 2 eggs brown sugar white sugar unsweetened cocoa 1/2 cup - 1 cup peanut butter baking soda baking powder cream of wheat a little bit of pancake mix butterscotch chips i know, probably sounds like the weirdest recipe either...we like ot experiment :)

I sometimes sprinkle wheat germ on my oatmeal. I also add it to cookies, breads, dessert/potpie/pie crusts, muffins, pancakes, and smoothies. I've never tried it on ice cream.

I was sprinkling it on my cereal but it went off. It started to taste bitter and oily. I was really surprised because it was a large packet which I'd emptied into a clean, dry airtight container. Apparently it's a good source of fibre. I can't say I noticed the taste...maybe there are different variations.
