A UK Government health advisory body has suggested that anyone wanting to buy tobacco products in the UK should purchase a £10 license (permit) to do so. The details are here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7247470.stm Is this fair? Would you buy a license to smoke?

lol. that sounds like an interesting idea, but who would enforce this law ? would you have to keep your permit on you at all times, and walking down the street smoking someone could come up to you and as you for your permit to smoke ? *giggles* it sounds sort of silly now that i've thought about it a little bit!! hehe What do you think ?
I dont smoke so i wouldnt buy one..

Oh golly as if we're not already hammered enough. Stupid tactics like this wouldn't make me want to stop smoking! Why don't they just hike up the prices even more? To £10 a pack! All these people ranting about smoking relating illnesses costing the NHS so much money, do they actually know just how much the NHS gets from smokers already? I'd buy the stupid license if it was implemented just to tell the government they can't dictate to me. I will quit smoking as and when I'm ready to :)

I dont see what the point it, if you are going to pay £10+ a week for cigs, then you are going to pay and extra £10 a year arnt you! this wont stop anything, it is just another way for the goverment to get more money!! I presonally dont smoke, but i dont think that it will do anything, the only thing i agree with is putting the money earned into health care, but we all know that wont happen! lol
