Do you have a favorite comfort food?

I have a few favorites. My biggest one (or maybe it's just the one i'm craving most, right now) is red beans and rice, the way my mom used to make it. I made it one time before she passed away, while consulting with her on the phone. I think I'm going to try it again sometime soon. It is one of my favorite meals. We always poured it on rice and 9 times out of 10 we would make it along with fried pork chops. yummm Other comfort foods for me are chicken soup, mashed potatoes and corn and pillsbury chocolate chip cookies. What are some of your favorites? Do you think it's unhealthy to seek comfort in food? Do you do it anyway?? Looking forward to reading your thoughts.

I don't call them my comfort foods but let's just say this foods are my favorites..I love Chicken curry, Sinigang na Baboy (Filipino dish), KFC chicken and fries, Aroscaldo ( Filifino food)..This foods are delicious..In drinks I love mango juice or shake and coconut juice. I don't think it's unhealthy to seek for your comfort foods. It's much more nutritious when you enjoy the food your eating. :)

Do you eat fried Pork chops? I think I've had something like that at Taco Bell, but of course that's nothing like the really good stuff. Down here, "wraps" have become popular in some places. Not exactly a "burrito" i guess, but I have had one that's called a "Cuban wrap". It has cut up steak with black beans and rice and sweet plantains. It's SO good.

I prefer the starchy food like fresh bread (biscuits), pasta, potatoes, and cakes. Its probably not healthy to seek comfort in food but I do it. If I am stressed I can't get enough to eat. Those extra pounds sure don't do me any good.

I love mexican food! Some of my favorite flavors are refried beans, any kind of meat, guacamole and sour cream added to any of the above. I can see that as being comfort food. I'm craving that now. I think you just answered my "What should i have for dinner" question for tonight! :-)

I have 2, potato stew and strong tea with lots of sugar and milk. Comfort food and seeking comfort in food seems to mean different things. The former being eating something that can warm you ans settle your nerves. The latter being venting on large amount of carbs. I don't do it intentionally. The best comfort food is when I had a real rough day and comes home to have my mom serve me some comfort food casually, like it is the most natural thing to do. I guess that's her way of telling me I am being love by everyone and everything. That warms me instantly.

My comfort food is mashed potatoes with chicken and home made noodle or dumplings. They aren't really good for your health but they sure do help a hurting heart. My grandmother would make this about every 2 weeks or so. She knew just how to season the chicken broth so it was heavenly. My mouth is water right now just thinking about it. She made what she called lazy man's noodles. She would make them moist enough that they would just drop off the edge of the bowl. This way she didn't have to roll them out and let them dry. I have tried to make them like that but I have not been able to get it dow, so I make drop noodle or as my granddaughter calls them buttons,

My comfort foods are: mashed potatoes and refried beans. Whenever my husband and I get a chance to have lunch together and go to our favorite Mexican restaurant I will usually have a side of beans and a tostada. I don't know what it is about the beans (and boy, my hubby doesn't like being around me after about an hour later) but it will make me relaxed if I'm stressed out in any way.

My mother used to make fried chicken and I wish I could do it as well. Chicken soup when I have a cold. Meatloaf is also one of my old favorites. And, Oh yeah, chocolate chip cookies!!

Chocolate is my comfort food. I always seem to think that things get better once you eat a small amount of chocolate. It doesn't matter why we are eating it as it seems to solve most problems. I also find potato soup to be very comforting. If I am sick that is what I usually eat.

I tend to seek out sweets whenever I am in need of comforting, particularly chocolate! But, just about any sweet type of food will do. Yesterday I wanted doughnuts. I also crave soups whenever I am sick.

Comfort foods...hmmmm...depends on what I am seeking comfort for. Crunchy foods are something I seek when I am working through something. When I am feeling more vulnerable I look for 'softer' foods such as bran muffins with crunchy peanut butter...or a big bowl of warm, CREAMY soups. I do not think that seeking comfort in food is unhealthy...when the food is eaten with awareness. I work with those who have eating disorders and problems with weight and seeking comfort in food when it is used to distract people from what they need to deal with can lead to an unhealthy association with food. Other than that nurturing ourselves with moderate portions of comfort foods can go a long way to building up the inner resources we need to cope. In my view everything in moderation and keeping things in balance is a healthy approach to most things in life. Raia

I'm not really a good eater but i'm willing to taste whatever is nice around to eat. Hi miamilady! I think my "comfort food" are french fries and fried chicken. hehe.. I guess, when it comes to having comfort foods as being unhealthy, it would depend on what kind of comfort food you have. Just like mine, they are really unhealthy because of all the grease. hehe..However, I really don't eat them as much as I used to. Just my thoughts. Take care and have a nice day! :)

I love red beans and rice too. I have to say my two favorites are collard greens and cornbread or chicken and dumplings. I just love good ole southern food. I know it's all fat stuff so, I don't eat it as often as I would like to.
