hey you can check the olf hdd if that fine data recovery would be very easy you can do that ursef but if it has gone bad i would suggest you to havea word with drive savers or any data recoverers but they will charge hefty amount like 200- 900 dollars depending on the amount of data you want

Although my computer is pretty old but it still serves me right until now you know.. It crashed so many times and I keep on bringing it to repair shops hehehe.. still it stand.
Identify first what part of your old computer crashed. if your hard disk is still ok, you can use it still with your new one so you still your old files.

if your old computer's hard drive doesn't work anymore, then there is nothing you can do to retrieve the information inside the hard drive. i am not sure if there's a way, but you can go to best buy and ask them and have them take a look at your old hard drive from your old computer. if they think that it will be possible to retrieve information, then you're very lucky man. this is a lesson for you to back up all your important data in your computer so whenever you computer crashes again, you have a backup and you can restore you computer to life. if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. i know a little bit about computers. i hate to hear you say you lost your daughter's pictures.

Well you can open up the old one, and take out the hard drive and put the hard drive into the new one.. but that could get risky, cause if your old computer crashed because of a virus, then you may end up crashing your new one too.. I would say.. get someone to look at your old pc, a friend or someone you know that knows a little bit at least about computers.. If you know someone ;)

If you can access the hard drive and the internet at all on that old machine then you could upload them to a site like photobucket. But if you cannot get on the machine at all then chances are your operating system went bad. If you had more than one hard drive or your hard drive had partitions on it then it is still possible to save your kids pictures. But I would need more specifics before I sat here and tried to explain to you what needed to be done.
