First… I have to say that I am getting worried about Mel Gibson… As much as I like him as an actor… As a director… he seems to have a real thirst for blood shed, cruelty, and violence. We see that in Braveheart, The Passion of Christ, and Apocalypto. So… he puts the blame fair and square on the Jews… I’ll buy that… for the simple fact that Jesus came out claiming to be their king. The things I don’t buy are what’s follow… Jesus might have been the son of God… but he was human… and not Rambo or Rocky. Not even them would have survived such a long beating. Jesus should have died ten times over. There was about two liters of blood on the ground from the initial beating. The Romans might have been cruel But their soldiers were disciplined and followed orders. We see quite the opposite in this movie. Either the Hebrews were right when they challenged Jesus to prove to them he was the son of God by coming of the cross… Or there is something seriously wrong with God. God did choose the Hebrews as his people. How and why would he allow his people to do that to his son? Don’t kid yourself… if Jesus was the son of God… God is not going to forgive us… He took the Roman Empire out… And the Jews have been through hell ever since… Famous last words from Jesus… “When you hear the truth… you’ll hear my voice”. That pretty much leaves everyone out of the loop. Starting with a billion Christians and a billion Muslims. Laugh Other things to note… We associate the cross with Jesus… But it seems that the Hebrews knew all about crucifixion long before Jesus. We always see pictures of Jesus… Does anyone ever see a picture of God?

I haven't seen the movie, and I'm not sure that I'm very anxious to. I heard that it was pretty voilent, and I'm not sure that's what I'd want in what could be an educational film. I'm sure I'll watch it one day, but I'm in no hurry for that day to happen. Everyone is going to have their own take on the movie. I would bring into it my faith as a child, my feelings as an adult and the things I have learned from others. All of that combined should give me a way to peice the whole thing together to decide how much is educational and how much is "entertainment".
