Do you have a Moby wrap or have you ever used one?

babytalk article - This is the section in the babytalk magazine with the article about the Moby wrap. $70 is a lot I'm wondering if its really worth it.

I was looking through the latest issue of babytalk magazine march 2008 issue and I came across this small article about a Moby wrap. Its says it stays tight and is comfortable to wear. It can be used in front, as a sling and on your hip or back. I dont even know if it is possible that it would work like it says but it looks neat and maybe it would be easy to nurse your child using this.

i know this is an old discussion, but i LOOOOOVEEE the moby! its absolutly amazing. its just 5yds of fabric, and you wrap it around your self. its NOT a "carrier" its a wrap. they are so comfortable. i have nursed my daughter in it, no one would know. the moby shouldnt be used on your back. its made of too streachy of material, and even tho the instructions says you can, you really shouldn't. i used it when my daughter was a newborn, and i can still use it at 6 months. its warm, and very suggly.

It doesnt matter that the discussion is old. They are made to comment on no matter how old they are or mylot would delete the old posts! Thats awesome that you have a moby wrap and you like it so much. Being able to nurse your child as you walk around shopping without having to hold them in your arms is a huge benefit. With the carrier I had that was very hard to do!

Wow since just yesterday my ranking in parenting has dropped from 884 out of 8618 in parenting to what it is now 666 our of 8622 in parenting :( Must be a lot of people gave me negative rankings on something. Oh well as long as I earn money thats all that matters I guess.

@ shaggin: By my understanding that kind of drop is a good thing. The lower the first number is, the better. The second just shows how many users are in that interest. The only thing you have to watch out for is your star (if you're into that sort of thing). And by the looks of it yours is doing great so you have nothing to worry about. @ potatobutt: Welcome back! Happy mylotting you two!

No, I've never used a Moby wrap. In fact, I never even heard of it until now. LOL However, I did use an infant carrier for my kids when they were babies. It looks similar to the one at the link below. Well, other than it didn't have a special area for the baby's arms. That and it was a different color entirely. Other than that they looked pretty much the same. LOL http://www.walmart.com/ip/Evenflo-Snugli-Front-Back-Infant-Carrier-Black/12960879

I actually wrote this discussion so long ago that I didnt even remember writing it lol. I have never used a moby wrap or any type of wrap carrier. I had different things that were just hard to use so I didnt use them much at all.

I personally like simple wrap slings. I made a rebozo style when my 5yo was a baby & I'm using it again with my newborn. But I have several friends who love the Moby wrap, the others I have heard great reviews about is "hotsling" and "babyhawk". If you don't have back issues, the rebozo styles can be used in all those ways too. But they don't have any padding (unless you make one yourself & alter it to have padding) or any form to them.

A friend of mine always wore her children in slings. I cant remember what brand she wore as she had a few differnet ones. Her mother actually made one for her as well that she made from looking at a style of a name brand one. They worked well for her.

I didn't like that style because it is so big. I used a ring sling with my daughter, and never really liked it, but didn't dislike it either - I finally got the hang of it when my son was born, but then I found mai-tai. I loved my mai-tai. It's not as versatile as a wrap or sling, but it was most comfortable for us - and he didn't like to lie down in the sling anyway. And my favorite part is I could roll it up and stick it in the diaper bag, and it didn't take up much room at all - no more than a bag of wipies.

Hearing the name mai-tai I think that is what my friend uses and loves it. I got a sling from a friend to give to another friend and I looked at it and thought how in the world would this work. I think it was the ring sling you are speaking of. I had a few different types of carriers but I didnt use them much I didnt like them.
