Thought I'd share with you a little story I read in the paper yesterday. A achoolteacher gives his class a new word every week to look up in the dictionary and make a sentence with. This particular week's word was 'pregnant'. The dictionary's definition was 'to bear or carry a child'. One boy wrote "The fireman raced into the burning building and came out pregnant." I thought this was very clever! It makes sense doesn't it?! Does anyone else have any stories of funny things kids have said? it never ceases to amaze me how their little brains think!

That is wonderful. I cannot think of anything right now that my kids said in that area. It has been so long since they were little. They are grown women now. But that was an adorable story. Someday when that child is grown his Mother will remind him of that and they will have a good laugh! Memories are made of this! Shalom

That is a good one and it doesn't surprise me at all! lol My kids are constantly coming up with things that amaze me! One of the funniest things was when my then 3 year old daughter burped and when I asked her what you said when you did that she said ' I feel so much better now' such a fly little girl, she knew exactly what I meant! xxx

That is so darn cute... well, dictionary writers did not take into consideration how kids will interpret the definitions... so i think it is the role of the teacher to add the necessary words or explanations... but this type of story will be very good or is perfect for Reader's Digest... Kids really has this innocent way of making us smile... thanks for sharing this...

That's funny. I guess the dictionary left out the part that's it the female that bears young or didn't think of the different meanings of carry. My kids have said some pretty funny things too when they think they know what a word means, but I can't remember any of them at the moment.
