the kids and I really enjoy eating grapefruit, i have purchased more than 30 pounds of ruby reds this month already...
how do you like to eat your grapefruit?
do you slice it into two halves and scoop out the fruit
do you cut it into wedges and eat it off of the rind
do you peel it like an orange?
do you like to put anything on your grapefruit?
do you have a preference to red or white?
-----
Lately I have been slicing the fruits into wedges and eating them off the rind. I guess it is laziness that compels me to do it this way for the youngins.
when I slice them in half and scoop them I like to sprinkle with a little sea salt...
my father liked to peel his grapefruit like an orange, but I always found the membrane a bit too bitter.

Hi, to be honest, I don't really like grapefruit.
I also seldom eat it because it is a bit bitter (I find) and the overall taste isn't to my taste (lol). :P
I heard the fruit packs quite a punch in good stuffs though.:)

Im not a big one for grapefruit, but my parents love them. my mother cuts them in half in the evening and sprinkles them with brown sugar and leaves them in the fridge overnight and then eats them in the morning.
best wishes to you, modestah and take care

I love grapefruit. The red, pink and white ones. I like them all. I have a hard time getting all the fruit out when I just cut them in half. So I have learned to peel them then cut them in half. Sprinkle them with a little salt then pull them apart to eat. Yes the membranes are a bit bitter if you leave any of the white part of the peel on but then I like them any way.

I have a hard time getting the grapefruit out of those cut in half so I now peal them and remove all the membrane Then salt it. Yes I also like salt on my apples not just the tart ones. I also like salt on my tomatoes. My granddad would put sugar on his grapefruit and tomatoes. I don't put sugar on much of anything.

Dee, another salt liker! I've never added the salt except when halved though -
do you salt sour apples too?my mother used to give me half an apple in one hand and a teaspoon of salt in the other to dip the apple into - then send me outdoors - knowing the salt would otherwise find itsway to the floor.

I love grapefruit...I used to eat it all the time but lately with the prices so high I've gotten out of the habit. I always cut mine in half and eat it with a spoon. I guess I usually prefer the red type and never put anything on it unless for some reason it's extremely bitter.

I absolutely love grapefruits! When I was young, my mother cut them in half and sprinkled sugar onto the halves and I would scoop out the sections and eat them. As an adult, I peel them and eat them just like an orange, slice by slice! My grandfather would put salt on his grapefruit, which I tried a few times and just couldn't develop a taste for grapefruit prepared in this manner.

that is interesting, I find so few people that have ever heard of putting salt on their grapefruit. I only do it when cut in half... something my mother used to do. but she salted several types of fruit - including pineapple (says it cuts the acid *shrug*)
