During my college days, I heard two students arguing about which profession is the most important. One student said, it is nursing while the other said, it is engineering.

Each profession has its own importance. So, we can not say that one is more important than the other. As one responder put it, every professional has his/her own expertise. An engineer can not do what a doctor can do, except for those holding 2 or 3 professions at the same time. A teacher or professor is very important too, coz a person can not graduate or finish a degree course without the tachers or professors.

Hi,there, Yeah, there are so many professions that in our society as we need these ..we can't live without these professions.so we can't say which one is more important ...I should say almost all of them are essential in our daily life..such as when we get ill we have to go to the hospital..so of course the nursing is important as it is related with our health and when we wanna to learn something new we have to go to school or college so the education seems to be important ..etc... Therefore ,I should say there is no most important profession .... This is just my point of view.

Your argument is simple, the most important profession is the one you hold right now that is providing for your basic needs. All honorable professions are important.

Wow, it would be really tough to narrow down to just one! Still, I'll give my analysis. I, personally, feel that teachers are one of the biggest world heroes... the children are our future, right? Teachers dedicate their life, like parents, to our children. Some other professions that should rank towards the top, in my opinion of course, are: Doctor's ((all of them including but not limited to: Phychologists, Phychiatrists and Veteranarians)) who care for the ill and save lives. Environmentalists who want our planet to be clean, safe and livable. Also, laborers, who sometimes work their hardest for the least amount of pay but are important to so many different companies and people.

Well, both are needed. But as a nursing student I am partial to nursing. That is all we ever hear about is the nursing shortage that has been going on and will continue to go on for a long time. No offense to any engineers but I haven't heard of a great engineer-shortage.

To me anything anyone says...is still just an opinion. Ideally each person would exercise their right of free will and decide what the most important professions is FOR THEM. Whenever people do what they love with passion and commitment...the money and satisfaction follows. To say any profession is more important than any other is rather pointless...because in life each individual who gives of themselves in meaningful works adds to the greater good of the all...at least from my perspective. I believe that every profession is important, the group, because this discussion will end in something like, my profession is better and I'm better than you. I'm a student of engineering and what I can say is the important is the people stay happy with their job.
