What do you do with your purse while you are in the restroom?

After reading the discussion about washing our hands, I just had to ask. What do you do with your purse while you are in the stall? If you put it on the floor, you have now picked up germs, etc. and are now carrying them around with you. Then you get into your car, truck, SUV and put your purse on the seat or on the floor, and so on and so on. You get the idea. I try to hang it on a hook, if there is no hook, I try to keep it on my shoulder. Or I get one my girls to hold it for me. I honestly hate carrying a purse but what's a mom to do.

I think a lot of people don't use the hook because they are afraid some one will reach in and steal their purse.

well if I am at a restaurant or a cinema hall, I usually keep my purse with whoever is accompanying me. I usually find rest-rooms very dirty (no matter how clean and well-kept) so I find no place to keep my purse. Other than that, I can of course leave it behind in the car.

I never put my purse on the floor, that is discusting! lol I put it on a hook or the thing that holds the toilet paper or I have my daughter hold it for me. I don't like carrying a purse either and usually make sure I have something on that has pockets so I can put my wallet in the pocket and I also have my cell phone case I use to put my ID and CC in so if I don't have to bring a purse, I don't :)

I do it same with you. Most of the restrooms here in our country have hooks. So I just placed by bags there. But if the hooks are unavailable I just carry it with me or I let my companion hold it for me.

I was thinking about starting a similar discussion a few days ago when I was in a bathroom with NO pursehook! That makes me nuts! To be honest, whenever this happens, I am at a loss as to what to do. More often than not, I'm with my son so I can't ask him to hold my purse. He's usually right outside the bathroom door impatiently waiting for me to hurry up and get out. I'll usually put my purse on whatever surface seems the least icky. I can't imagine trying to pee and wipe with a purse hanging on my should. It's hard enough trying to figure out whether to line the toilent with paper or just squat! lol

Excellent conclusion! One of my eccentricities is a love for different kinds of hooks and fasteners, so generally there is a clip or hook of some sort in one of my pockets. The wall might be dirty but it is cleaner than the floor! The only kind of purse I ever carry any more is Buxton's As-Seen-on-TV shoulder bag: http://www.buxtonbag.com/ It works just like in the video! For about ten years before we retired, though, and for some time after, I did not carry a handbag at all, though, except for luggage when we traveled. One pocket computer replaced quite a few of the different things I used to have to lug around and I just wore clothes with enough pockets to stash the other necessaries, such as lip gloss, tissues, wallet, and keys. Moving from classroom to classroom with hundreds of students milling about there was no safe place to put a bag.

hi kimber! good question. if that purse has a handle, i sling it over my shoulder. if it doesnt, i put it in my armpit. i hate putting my personal stuff on the floor, whether it is a public restroom, or even the living room, i am only comfortable putting sutff on the floor inside the bedroom, because we don't bring our outside shoes or slippers inside the room. we also have a different set of slippers for the bathroom take care and God bless! :-)

Me too, I put it on a hook if there is one and take my coat or jacket off to put it on the hook over the purse since we have had cases where someone reached in and stole purses from the hook. If there is no hook I try and leave it on my shoulder. It is really a dilemma when you have to put it on the floor but hopefully germs will die in short order when there is no moisture present. Maybe not.

Yeah this came up a lot this weekend... not my purse but my video camera bag.. just a bit bigger than a purse... anyway... if there is not a hook... i have learned how to put the handle/strap over the corner of the door between the lock or the other side even... ugh.. again.. I just hate public bathrooms! LOL smile! :0)

I too hang my purse on a hook or hang it on my shoulder when attending business in the restroom. Fortunately, it has a nice long strap. You can also hook it over the door, purse inside. There is also the option of hooking it on the toilet paper role, or setting it on the role.

If I am with hubby it is him that I leave my purse with while I go. If I am alone I hang it on a hook or on the lock. If all else fails I put it on my shoulder and hope it stays there.

I hate to carry a purse and If I can get away with not carrying it I don't. But If I have ti with me I usually look for a hook.If there is no hook. OK your going to laugh I have actually hung it around my neck. Its a pain but its better then sitting it on the dirty floor.

Great question. The first thing that I look for when I enter a stall is a hook because I would prefer to hang my purse in a hook, than placing it on the floor. However, if there's no hook I'll just let it hang over my shoulder- no other choice. I would say that me and my purse are inseparable, find out why here- www.buxtonorganizer.net. Thanks!

Great question, now you had me thinking. The first thing that I look for when entering a stall is a hook/s because I always carry a purse with me (I'm a mom and you can take it from there). So definitely, I'll opt in hanging my bag in a hook but if there's no hook, I'll just let it hang on my shoulder- no other choice. I would say that me and my purse is inseparable, find out why here- www.buxtonorganizer.net.

Believe it or not, I can do my business using one hand, just so I could hold on to my purse on the other. Now, when I'm working, I usually have a huge bag with me and I always hang it if there are hooks available.

I never take out of my pocket while i rest on 'it'.So i am sure the germs woulnd't crawl into. When it would be all the way from the 'boat' to my trousers and from my trousers to my pocket i'd be done.Anyway i need not have to take my wallet out while i am there.

I really leave it behind with someone i know like my hubby.. i dont want to bring with me inside the toilet because it might fall into the pit and it is hard to get it specially if they dont have racks where you can put your stuff or hang them around

I hang my purse on the hook.I do whatever I can to not put it on the floor because I think I can't put it on the floor then go home and put it on the table.Putting it on the floor is just gross.
