Thanks for sharing,Valerie, it does look like she is making progress and ambidextrous too, when she went from using her right hand to her left in the one video..
I also thought it was awesome when you, (Mom), sat down to play ball, how she was "showing off" for you, dribbling the ball back and forth...:) You can tell how much she loves and adores you..

Yes, she's always been ambidextrous as long as I can remember. And yes, she loves showing off, and throwing that ball is one of her favorite things to do. The day we took her up there I couldn't find it so didn't get to take it up there for her then. Well Ashley made it her goal to find that ball here at home and when we went on Thursday she made sure to take it up there for kayla.

She has always shown in ways that she wants to be indepenedent. But yea, that nurse was trying to get her to take smaller drinks, and she wasn't having any of that. LOL. I guess you could say then she has a stubborn streak as well.

Thank you for sharing. She is really doing great! Now aren't you glad to sent her for that training? She looks happy and so proud of herself. Yayyyy! As you started several discussions on this, I am just replying to this one. Good idea putting the different videos all in one place.

It appears that she is either mentally challenged, or suffers from downe's syndrome...it is challenge to raise a special needs child and I admire you. I had a cousin who was diagnosed with autism at age four, and although he had some coping difficulties we all love him
and are glad he is with us. One of my friends is director for a program for special needs adults..and sometimes they amaze you with the acuity and insight that emerges with love and patience.

She is precious. I use to work with developmentally disabled adults and it really gave me a good feeling. I felt like I was making a difference. There was one boy there that I thought of like a son. I accidently spoiled him and then he would not listen to me any more.
If I asked him to sit down, he would throw a tantrum and start crying. If another staff asked him, he would mind with no problem. That made me feel bad. Actually, a few of them realized that I was a push over. You have to be nice, yet firm.
I remember coming home tired, but it was a good tired. I only like to do work that makes a difference in a special way.
