Why Do Some People Get the Urge to Kill Themselves?

This is sad but it is true in alot of cases, If you've thought about it or no someone who has done it you don't have to say. But it is a very sad subject and I tell people that if you feel this way turn to God and ask him to come into your life because to kill yourself...it's just not worth it.

I agree with you. However, I think that people who are that seriously depressed feel there is no other solution and just want to end their pain. Alot of times it is a cry for help and the person ends up succeeding in ending their life before help arrives. The saddest part of it is the grieving family and friends. They live the rest of their lives blaming themselves sometimes. There certainly needs to be more education out there about depression and more programs reaching out to people suffering. One of the problems, in my opinion, is that mental illness still carries such a stigma.

I agree with every statement said here, I just find it horrible that some people feel this way because I had several people at my old high school take their lives.

I have spent a good part of my adult life working with the terminally ill. I work with people who bear so much pain both physical and emotional, I do not understand why more of them do not end their lives. I always council them not to end it, but I never judge them when they do. I usually do all that I can to make it look as natural as possible, so that no one suffers because of what they have chosen to do. The family left behind always suffers. They usually blame themselves, even when they know deep in their hearts that the person was in mortal pain. You say to turn to G'd. They do, sometimes for years. The pain does not go. It gets worse. Doctors withhold meds. because they might get "addicted". What a joke, they are dying, who cares if the get addicted. Its not like they are ever going to need to get off the stuff. You say turn to G'd. G'd does not micromanage. He put us here. He gave us a book of rules. He gave us a mind we were supposed to use to learn to cure our ills and to learn to stop wars etc. He gave us a world full of recources which we are squandering and hording for the rich. G'd does not cure our pain and ills. We were supposed to do that. Instead the Pharmaceutical companies fight over patents to see how much money they can make. Doctors charge exorbitant fees. They specialize in face lifts and rich peoples ills to get rich quick. Doctors cannot face the dying either. They fear their own mortality. They are of little help. You say turn to G'd. Believe it or not they are turning to G'd when they end their lives due to pain and illness. Most of them are not doing it out of despair. They are doing it to get on to the next step. They have made peace with their Maker and are going to meet Him. That is not true with the young generation who slit their wrists out of confusion, but it is true more often than not of the terminally ill. Shalom

It is very sad and yes when I was at that stage I did turn to God and he lifted me up and pray thanks everyday for him letting Jesus into my life and giving it purpose again. Tonight though on the news in the UK the sixteenth teenage in a small Welsh village in not as many months has been found hanged, such a pretty girl too. Why is this? These sixteen young people were all teenagers. This pricipality of Brigend needs praying for don't you agree. God bless. Ellie :D
