help with email servers.

i need help with hotmail's email server thing.I don't know what
you call it,but here's the problem....
When i try to configure the smtp on it,and usually i've heard that you have to put it likee this:SMTP.live.com
well,i do that,and still nothing.I tried to configure the POP3
one,and the pop3 they say to configure it by this way:POP3.live.com. i've tried that,it still doesn't work right.
so,what am i doing wrong?I just downloaded windows live's email
server thing,you knw,where you can check your email from this
program thing that is on your desktop,instead of going to the
main website.It is kinda like outlook express,to be more point.What am i doing wrong?
please help.

first what is your (ISP) Internet Service Provider?
They will be the one who will give you the incoming and outgoing mail server. For incoming it should be: pop.(your ISP) and for outgoing it should be smtp.(your ISP). Example: pop.charter.net smtp.charter.net. Try to call your ISP.

i am on wi-fi hotspot area connection.Meaning that i get connected to the internet for free,but,i don't think the internet would cause it to not work,or would it?
I figure that it'd be b/c of the mail server thingie that i downloaded from Live.com.

If you are using outlook or outlook express, you must check the settings especially the incoming and outgoing mail server, it should be correct for your email to work.
