If the guidelines posted for thesis submission say "size 10 or 12" font, shouldn't the librarian accept a thesis in any one of these fonts? A student was told today that they wouldn't accept his thesis unless it was in size 12. Isn't that enough to frustrate a student? This is why I don't want to study at this university anymore!! I would get really annoyed if that happened to me! And it is not as if the librarian hadn't previously seen the thesis (several times!) in the size 10 font. How is it that right before the final submission, she suddenly decided it must be in size 12 font for "standardisation"? If they want standardisation, they shouldn't give students an option, just say "size 12 font only"!! Come on UWI library!! Get with the program!!

Yeah that is ridiculous, I would be putting in a formal complaint. They said size 10 or 12, that is what they were given. I would not want to go back and change it. You put so much effort into assignments, you don't have time to fiddle around over font size. Don't let it deter you though from studying at this university. Just encourage this student to put in formal complaint.

You're right, I probably shouldn't let it deter me, but I can't help it. And this is not the only thing. Yes, he is definitely trying to take the issue to an authority higher than the librarian to get something resolved, but I am afraid he may have no choice in the matter, depending on who this librarian knows.
