Who's ready for an upgrade?

As you may have already noticed, we released an upgrade to myLot today. We’re really excited about this one! This is the first of a handful of planned upgrades you can expect in the coming weeks and months.
Your myLot home page now includes an “activity sortie” that allows you to instantly see what your friends have been up to on myLot. You can learn more about the activity sortie by clicking on “what is the activity sortie?” in the upper left-hand corner of the page. Your home page at http://www.mylot.com will look a little different than you’re accustomed to, but you can still fully customize your home page like you did before by adding/removing sorties, and moving them around on the page to fit your tastes.
Your profile pages have also been streamlined and now have a more consistent look and feel. We did our best to maintain any customizations you had already made, but you can still customize your profile as before. We also tried to make editing your profile a bit more user-friendly.
There are some other tweaks here and there to make things better, including several bug fixes.
Finally, I wanted to say thanks to everybody who participated in last week’s question and answer discussion with me. I think my fingers are still tired from typing, but that was fun!

Hello Crash,
Do we have the ability to turn this spywear feature off? I know what discussions I have visited, and if somebody else wants to follow me, or another member around, then they should at least have to put some effort into it.
How can we opt out of this new feature?

I tried everything Lady. Not only can you not turn it off or get rid of it, you cannot move it to the bottom of the page. It is there in all its infamous glory for all to see. It seems that I will be followed around by semetic adds too. I find that interesting. It knows your race and nationality. Seems a bit racist to me. Maybe that is where my s--- went.

This feature absolutely isn't spyware. If you don't want to show up in someone's activity sortie, then you can simply remove them as friends.
Our goal isn't to make it harder to keep in touch with your friends. Our goal is to make it easier, which the activity sortie will help accomplish.

I agree with eskarena1, I appreciate knowing what mylot is going to do before they do it... the company I work for doesn't even do that!

Yuk! My profile page is all higgledy-piggledy! I'm off to straighten it out again cos it look hidious! Looks like as if I'd been drinking before I set it up lol.

I'd love for you to tell me that I've completely missed the mark here, and that MyLot hasn't endeavored to raise its earnings through the use of tracking software, for targeted marketing.

Okay I usually DON'T say anything when alert discussions are put up simply becuase I'm an easily adaptable person...BUT (oh yes, theres a but).....I DO NOT like this new feature "so and so are now friends" ESPECIALLY WHEN I'VE NOT APPROVED the friend request and in many cases WON'T....I dont care for that at all...
Also..rather than constantly making changes to how our profiles look etc...could you guys PLEASE make replying more friendly and personable?!?!? Like allowing us to at bold, italic, underline, smilies etc etc....ADD AN IGNORE FEATURE!!!!! that would be SPLENDID! and so on...

I have an unapproved friend in my my friends list since the upgrade as well. This member sent a friends request yesterday, which I had not yet responded to. Whammo! After the upgrade, my daily activity logs identifies that this member and I are now friends.
I haven't had time to check to see if any of the other pending requests were also approved, by default. I'll follow up on that, and let you know.

Hi dear Crash, I have seen much improvement after the recent upgrading. I suppose it would give much convenience and freshness to us. But at the present moment my most immediate concern is to have fluent posting as soon as possible. The problem of difficult posting started since 3rd Dec 2007 (I had stayed away from mylot from 28th Nov to 2nd Dec 2007 for a 5 days vacation) and hadn’t been solved till now, though I had asked for help from you, and mylot staff (contact mylot). I think I am not the only one who suffers from this type of problem in the huge mylot community. I believe lots of them will lose interest or become inactive if they encounter the same problem as mine.

Hi goodsign, I feel very happy to have you drop in here. I finally find a friend who is in the same boat. Really both of us are facing the same problem in posting. Very often I did take more than three hours to post a response, worse still sometimes not even one could be successfully done. I couldn’t believe that nothing could be done if they are really sincere to help us in this matter, as mylot is originated in such an advanced country with the most progressive technology.
Yeah, I totally agree with you, Crash and mylot staff should concentrate more on this issue and have action taken immediately instead of procrastinating without doing any remedial work, though it might concern only the minority.
By the way I feel embarrassed as most of the time I couldn’t reply friends in time because of this problem encountered. I hope they will understand our difficulty and actual situation. Good luck and have a nice day.

I've been facing the similar problem since November 29, 2007 till now. Previously I'm able to participate for 30 - 35 discussions per day, but after this 'disasters' for PLP(Problem Loading Page), Connection Time Has Out, Connection Has Been Reset....5 participation per day consider the most for me.
To upload one response, sometimes it took me more than three(3) hours.
I think, CRASH and other mylot staffs better concentrate more on this issue and please answer member's complain and not just ignore it till left unattended and unanswered.
Maybe now mylot has many members, so mylot no need to entertain our problem anymore....!!!

wow I sure like the way my profile page looks now, I am not into creative profile pages and haven't a clue on how some people get theirs to dance and sing so to speak, but it looks good to me.
I have also given mylot another chance because I can really see and appreciate what is being done to accommodate the people and contributors on mylot, so my congratulations and job well done as well as thanks

Hi Crash,
Nice to see the upgraded Mylot.I am sure that there will be more user-friendly upgrades which will keep us easy to operate.I take this oppurtunity to request you to keep up an upgrade facility to delete our "discussions with no responses" or you keep a time frame to delete the same by you(Mylot).I am sure it is going to be more interesting to be in Mylot.

I don't like this activities sortie thing, it's too...useless. I can remember what I did and who cares about my activities anyway?:-D Maybe some of us would be grateful for an "about me" sortie, though. You know: short introduction, hobbies, etc. Just a simple text box, nothing more.
But don't misunderstand me: the other new features are cool X-D

Am I the only one that is dissatisfied with the new layout,i.e., the page being narrower due to the strip on the left being on every page?
Again, I'm seeing my own picture at the top left of every page. Why should that be?
And everything else is optional on our profile and we get to pick where we put it if we DO want it.. Why not the activity thingie?

so its the exact opposite of what i talked about in my question to you. now its even busier then before, and still no spell check. i really had my fingers crosed that that was the big update. though seeing what friend up to is kinda cool would rather it was a system where they could alert me to a question that i might find interesting. some kind of flag. im pretty new here so might be, but one of my fiends isnt new and they always send me a yahoo messenger message with a link in it.

I hate the new upgrade of adding the activitie sortie to our home page. I liked mine the way it was. I had all the sorties that I needed and wanted on there. Now that we have this extra sortie (that you can't remove) I am not able to put mine back the way it was. I am truly upset and disappointed in mylot.

Well I understand it can be moved and I have already done that. But why couldn't it have been made to be removable, so that way if someone didn't want it on thier homepage at all. They could just remove it. Just like all the other sorties. To be totally honest. I have no need for the Activity sortie on my homepage and I don't want it on there. Plus from what I have read in this discussion and other discussions. There is a ton of people that feel the same way I do.

speedy, keep in mind that you can move the activity sortie to the bottom of your home page if you so desire. You can also re-add any other sortie that you previously had.
We tried to figure out a way to maintain everybody's home page settings, but there was no viable way, while still introducing the activity sortie and a few other items. We found that most users weren't customizing their home page like we thought they were, so we wanted to give a better "default" layout. Unfortunately, this meant resetting everything for the users who customized a lot of stuff.
But you should be able to return everything to normal, just with one extra sortie that is completely movable.

Upgrade, Yea!!!! Who wouldn't want an upgrade? Upgrades are good. I'd like an upgrade!!! I'm working on customizing myself, so why not my myLot? I'm thrilled to receive good news at any time. Great work in benefit of humanity!

Hi Crash!
Like many people here I don't like the new sortie. I think it would be better if you could at least choose what kind of activities are you interested in. For example I'm interested in what discussions my friends open/reply but I'm not interested if they get best response or if they add an interest. With adding too much information the one really needed are different to find.

I don't like the new activity thing.
Why not make it an optional sortie like the rest? That way if we want it, we can put it where we want. I don't like it where it is.

Forgot something.
Having my picture and such showing up in the left side of every page is redundant. I know who I am! That should only be visible when viewing my own profile.
Having that column so wide on the left is taking away valuable space from the page you're choosing to look at. I think it looks really odd.
I still don't like the activity thing. Have it optional like the rest of the sorties, and if we do want it, let us position it on the page where we want to.
