Things that make me wonder in the bible

heres a blog i started this is really just some things but i would like thoughts and maybe some people to add something that makes you wonder I'm only going to look at certain things to began with we will start with the beginning. OK, first thing would be when Adam and Eve where made, and when they where tossed out of The Garden of Eden. In Genesis 1:26 it states: And God said, Let US make man in our image, after OUR likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth: In Genesis 3:22 it states: And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of US, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: In these passages I always wondered who the US and OUR was. An answer to this could be that in the Hebrew version it actually translates to gods and goddess's. Another thing that I wonder about is who Cain and Abel married, I have found an answer to this one if you look to the Hebrew meaning of Adam and Eve they mean mankind and womankind. Something else that I wonder about the creation story is where is the Garden of Eden today? And where is the Tree of Life? One more thing would be that God made Eve out of the rib of Adam when in the Hebrew version It really met that God took Eve out of the Whole Side of Adam which would make man and woman equal. OK going away from the creation story lets look at a few more things that make me wonder. The story of Noah is one of those, which in history there is a tablet that scientists has found that states the same story that is in the bible that happened way before the story was written by Moses. This tablet states the same storyline with the same names only that it didn't happen in the whole world just one section. We can also look at the story of the "slaves" in Egypt which again was written by moses stating that his people were slaves in Egypt. What I don't get about this story is that the Egyptians kept documents on everything that happened in there lifetime, but they do not have one story that states they had slaves called Hebrews in the same timeline but instead they have a different name and were called the Princes of the land not slaves, and were cast out of Egypt because they tried to overthrow the Egyptians. What about Solomon actually praying to different gods and God still blessed him with being the wisest man ever? I have always believed that we are all gods in our own way and today someone gave me a verse in the bible that states this. Psalms 82:6 I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. OK, lets move to the New Testament. My first question would be why if Jesus was such an important person why did they not have any documentations from his years between the ages of 15 and 33? Why would they not put all of the books in the bible that were written? What about the language that Matthew, Mark, and Luke was written in, Aramaic, We didn't even know that language. These are only some of the things that I wonder about in the Bible there is many, many, more. Now what do you think about these things?

You see my friend, there are so many questions about this BIBLE. What i will advice you is to focus on your faith. You know faiht is a so incredible stuff tht one cant explain it. Now, the issue of garden of Eden, ofcourse from the context, since God drove Adam and his wife Eve out, he probably never wanted someone to go near that garden. So he probably "hid" it from the digth of men. The issue of Naoh, there is a similar story that happened in Ancient Mesopotamia, the ABUBU or the flood story. But in that case, the hero was named Napishtim, not Noah. Evrything was just the way you read of Noahs, story. Then you begin to wonder which is the rigthful story. Also, according to scientists, there is no amount of water on earth that will cover the whole surface of the earth. Then you begin to think that maybe that story is a myth. How can water flood the earth and cover even the mountains? but then i will like to advice that you stick to your faith. cos that is all that matters in these kind of instances. Yes, the issue of egyptins keep record of all their past. maybe they ommited the story of their slaves maybe because it was irrelevant. But i know even in the history of Ancient Mesopotamia, there was a time when the Egyptians took conquest of Jerusalem, and made them slaves. Then he issue of aramaic, the Bible comilers, i think thougth it is better if the bible is written in every odies language so that every body will understad it in his native, maybe using the idea of the pentecost day. So that shoukd not be an issue. Then for the bible parts not included, this was done by the first roman king (orgot his name) who saw a sign of the cross in his dreams, and a voice said that by this sign you shall conquer your enemies. So he gathered priests and they compiled the bible. Mind you, he was not a christian, so he choose those parts of the bible he thinks are relevant at their time, not htinking that it will affect the future generation christians. From their started Gnostic christianity, those that disagreed that some parts of the bible text be ommitted. Scientists have discoverd some of them, like the gospel of Juda, Peter, Mary and the rest. And the story of the childhood of Jesus, i think you will find more details in the quran, if ou can get the english translation. I hope you read this and get some information that will be useful to you.

Hi there. Years ago, I was asking exactly the same questions but the Bible answers EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM (redundant as it seem but it is to emphasize a point.) It's just too long to enumerate and expound my answer because I don't have the liberty of time as of now. You might want to check this website. It surely guides you finding answers that will make sense. Check www.angdatingdaan.org. It has a sister website theoldpath.com. "The old path" is the translation of "ang dating daan" which is in Filipino. You are welcome there anytime.

The problem with the bible is it was written by men. See the true OLD relign is Paganism and if you learn a little about the Pagan holidays you will see alot of the Christian holidays mimic the Pagan holidays. The things that you haveliste ar just a tiny grain of the million reasons I am no longer a Christian. Too many things contradict within the bible which makes it confusing. As far as you were saying that Adam and Eve being made in "OUR" image that can only mean that there truly is a male and female higher power and that all this time the Pagans were right in worshiping a God and a Goddess.

First of all, I'd like to say this is a really good discussion! I love learning new things about different religions. I'll try to answer as best I can from my personal opinions. The US and OUR in those verses I think were of God and his consort. Many of these stories were passed down orally, so I think there are pagan influences. I think the consort is the Shekinah. She is supposed to be the protector of the Tree of Life. I think there is a story that she gave them the fruit to eat so Adam and Eve would be opened up to wisdom. The word Sophia is used in the Torah I think. The word "Wisdom" is used in its place in the Bible. Sophia means Wisdom, so in the story Shekinah gave the fruit to the other two so they can gain her wisdom. Oh, and some people say that Shekinah is also the Holy Spirit. I'll think of the other things later on lol. I'm too tired to think much right now.

I can speak to the plural references to G'd. The early Hebrews were just a heartbeat away from paganism. They had not gotten over the idea of refering to G'd in the plural form even though they were monotheists and there was only one G'd. They were not talking about gods and godesses. In the beginning there were more than just 2 people. The story of Adam and Eve is an ancient teaching story that was passed down from the pagans. It was an easy way to explain the beginning of the world when no one could possibly understand the deep science of it at the time. We still don't know all of it. The Hebrews in Egypt were most likely indentured servants. Like Jews everywhere they tended to study and learn and become scribes and bankers and advance themselves. As they gained money and power they threatened the other Egyptian's jobs who were not indentured. They were driven out, but the plagues did happen they are recorded at the time. Then once they were gone there was a big gap in the labor force and the army went back after them. The Torah is a History of the Hebrew People struggling with Monotheism. It tells of their triumphs and their failures. It hides nothing. It also tells of G'ds forgiveness. There are many scrolls or books that did not make it into the christian testament. There is a book called The Other Bible that you might find very interesting. There is actually a scroll in there written about the child Jesus and how incorrigable he was. The final decision as to what books went in and what books did not was made by the Pagan Ruler Constantine at the Ecumenical Council of Nicaea. Jesus was a Jew and so were most of his friends. They spoke hebrew, but they wrote in Aramaic. Except for Paul, he knew Greek. I hope this helps you a little. Shalom~Salaam~Peace

I actually knew this stuff but my purpose was to make people think. I'm glad there are people out there that know these things though. I have watched something on the discovery channel about the plagues and what scientific occurances could of made them and that it has happened today in other countrys, there probally was methaine gas in the water which made the water red and so on and so forth here is the link to the video if you want to watch it. its called Exodus Decoded. i like stuff like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBBvvDl25F4&feature=related
