wow that's a lot of instruments that you know how to play! Cool! I only know how to play the piano. Wish I know how to play the guitar though. And I wished I had learned more instruments while I was still a kid!

You should go ahead and learn the guitar. IMHO it is easier to plan a tune on the guitar than the piano, as you can just play chords, which you can do on the piano, but, you can do more with chords(as in strumming and positioning) on the guitar. The only draw back to guitar is that it takes about 3-6 months to really get any kind of decent sound out of it, as you have to learn to bend your fingers and on top of that the strings will initally hurt your fingers.

Good for you. I love and have loved playing music since I was 16 years old. I played in a few bands when I was young and these days I just record my own material, which I still continue to love. I play the guitar, bass and keyboards. I have just been given a mandolin that was made either in the 1920's or 1930's(it used to belong to my g-grandfather), which I am learning to play. Getting back to playing music, I think I was the happiest when I was in my first band. I had been playing guitar for about 6 months, we had little of no gear. We had one "all purpose" amp that we borrowed and a home made speaker. The drummer only had a snare, bass and hihat and his cymbals were home made, with the cymbals on wooden poles in trash cans filled with earth! We had me on guitar, the singer played a few notes on the bass and I sang backing vocals all through the same amp. We were pretty awful, but, we played our own stuff and loved every minute of it.
