who earns more from a movie either the producer or the distributor?

Upon releasing a film which becomes box office hit,who gets profit from it either the producer who produced the film or the distributor who distributes the film

When a movie is a real hit, producer stand to gain a lot. The distributors also get, but the major chunk goes to producer. If the number of days the movie has to run is decided earlier and a price is fixed, again it is the producer who stand to gain. He will change the theatre or renew his rate.
