I am sorry but I find this story in the paper so damn funny! It just goes to show that society has become such that no one wants to take responsibility for their actions and we pamper to them! A gambling addict who lost more than £2million is suing the bookies claiming they made him carry on betting Firstly, who has that kind of money to gamble? We are not talking about a few hundred here, yes I had to read it TWICE £2 million, what a damn fool! Secondly did William Hill go out drag him off the street into their den of inequity and held a gun to his head and force him to bet his own money? He wants compensation Oh please do me a favour this is absolutely ridiculous, I am sorry but I have absolutely ZERO compassion for this man Does that mean when I put £5 or $8 on the lottery and I lose I can sue the Lottery company that took my money? Where is all this I don't take responsibility culture heading? So your views please, has this man got a leg or a horse to stand on? Do you know what the sad thing is? Because his story has got into the paper, and the publicity this rich g*t has got, he'll probably win another reason today's society is totally screwed and utterly cuckoo! It would break my heart to lose £100 let alone £2 million. He should be certified

He has no chance at all I feel. There have been many lawsuits against various casinos worlwide suing because the casinos plied the patron/gambler with booze. They claim being drunk marred their ability to make the right choices about gambling. They weren't forced to drink at all so they of course all had their cases thrown out. This is more than likely the result of this case as well. At least I hope so. They may want to make a point to get back at illegal bookies and their gambling so who knows. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Could you imagine the implications if he won? Everyone would have the same idea and bookies and casinos will all start to be bombarded with lawsuits. Doesn't bare thinking about!

If, I say IF, he does he win it will more than likely be just $1. Then they would go after the bookie for crimes etc I feel. I doubt he would win anything at all though. This is absurd to say the least. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I know a lot about this story sweety , not just cause my bestest friend works for William Hill but because I have seen some in depth reports on itin the last week! The company actually do have a self exclusion policy where someone can ask that they do not have their bets accepted at a shop and if they feel that is not enough they will take a photo of the customer and send it around all the shops in the surrounding area. This man used the self excluaion policy but not the photograph one and them would repeatedly open accounts in different names when he had finished self exluding one he opened another! I think that the company went above and beyond the call of duty to try and protect this man from himself and that even if for some ridiculous reason he won this lawsuit then he would probably gamble away every penny he received - he would be better trying to accept the responsibility of his actions and trying to get help for his addiction than trying to blame everyone else for his own mistakes! And they wonder why they say the world has gone mad! xxxxx

Then the man should get himself chccked in with a psyciatrist, if he can afford to lose 2 million he can afford to hire himself a good shrink, either that or he needs the white men in coats to carry him away xxxhugsxxxx

A week in cardboard city with the other unfortunate people, the winos, the drunks and the homeless should make him appreciate money more, maybe, perhaps? Those sorts of people are of a different mould than us decent folk x

That story is one more for the books, wolfie. We really do live in a litigious society where anyone will sue over anything. Nobody is willing to take responsibility for their own actions anymore. The judge should throw this guy out of court and make him pay all of the court fees. I know people who have a problem gambling, and they never run out of excuses.

You can guess that if he loses he'll take it to the European Court or something absurd! The trouble is if the judge throws him out he could sue for the infringements of his human life as little as it's worth. You have to laugh at the audacity of it, otherwise you'd lose your sanity with all the shite going on in the world

OMG Is some lawyer really going to assist him in this? What are we coming too next? I agree this is absolutely ridiculous. Where the heck did he get all that money to be able to gamble it away in the first place???

The guy is 28 and a greyhound trainer. and yes a lawyer has taken his case to the London high Court! He looks like a right fat cat. He lost his money, wife, health and job through it, because William Hill wouldn't exclude him. I'm glad his wife didn't stick around, she's no fool is she x No mention about children THANKFULLY!

I have heard of some of my friends losing their houses at some local casinos as well. Well they didn't actually lose their houses. They took another mortage out on them and lost that money. So actually it is the loss of a home sort of. These are friends I know that are also members of Gamblers Annoynomous. A shame. Glad I don't gamble like these fools. I hate losing a hundred dollars. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

casino - casino games
Some people want others to blame for own fail. Gambling is dangerous for sure, gambling should be treated as serious addiction and addictive people shouldn't be allow to enter casino.

Well Gambling is good, but too much is bad. The thing about gambling is the more you loose the more you play, its an instinct on us. But On that amount of money I don't think I can gamble on that.

That is so sad. People are just getting to the point they don't want to take responsibility for their own mistakes. Just terrible. I have to admit that a couple times a year I do buy a $2 scratch bingo ticket but it isn't an addiction. Thanks god I didn't get that one. I did however win $5000 off the bingo scratch ticket when I was 19 pregnant and single. It was like it was meant to be. Recently I asked the cashier at the grocery store to give my one and she said she didn't have the bingo ones but had others, and I said forget it, it's a sign. LOL Anyways I think the guy is a fool and a fool and his gold must part.

He will probably win the case because it is something that the media loves to hear. It also gives other gamblers some hope. I know all about gambling addictions since my husband is an addict. He is in theropy but it is a struggle every day for him as well as me. We see a marriage councellor as well, together, but it is very slow going and I don't know if our marriage can be saved because of the financial problems he has created for us with his gambling. We have had to file bankrupsy and have nothing and will never have our own house again. He gambled away our home. We are losers and will probably be losers for the rest of our life. This is another reason why I have thought about leaving my husband. I don't know if I can continue to deal with the problems his gambling has created for us.

I saw that too and just lmfao, the fact that someone actually thought it was a good idea to sue a bookie because they didn't stop taking bets off him. It does beggar belief but I suppose that's what happens when people won't take responsibility for their own actions, there is also a worrying culture of sue anything and everything you can think of these days, I wonder where it will end.

This is like the story of the lady who spilled McDonalds coffee on herself and sued McDonalds. Her case was the coffee was too hot! She won I belive $2 Million. Society is so money hungry that if they trip and fall they would sue the shoe company for defective product.
