One of my more silly discussions

It is silly, but don't you hate it when you put something down and a few minutes later you can't find it anywhere. You know darn well that it has to be there, after all you just had it in your hand. So amid cursing and fussing you look high and low for the object, but you simply can't find it. You begin to wonder am I going nuts, do I have goblins in my house or what the heck is going on. Then later that day or maybe the next day, you're moving things around and I'll be darned if there in the same exact spot is what you've been looking for and just where you put it. How long do you look before you start accusing everyone else of taking it? Or how mad do you get when you can't find what you are looking for? Have you ever had something dissapear, simply never to return, but you KNOW exactly where you put it? And no I don't think this is just simply a "getting older" kind of thing, its happened to me all along the way. LOL.

I'm still having that problem with my engagement ring. I know exactly where I put it. Everyone in my house knows exactly where it was. Yet half of it was found in front of the dogs food dish and the other half is still MIA. Goblins. Has got to be the goblins.

there was always 2 pieces to it. a center stone on one band and then an enhancer set of diamonds around that one. We found the center stone ring but the bigger part with the enhancer on it is the one still missing.

We have pretty much decided that is exactly what happened to the other half of the ring. We are just waiting for the snow to melt so he can go out back with a stick and start searching. lol

That is infuriating. In our home I have finally learned after many years to go immediately to all of hubby's stuff and look under it first, because I swear it is like he is marking "his territory" or something because the minute I put something down something of his seems to mysteriously end up right on top of it. It is a good thing I don't have a fire hydrant.

It happens to me all the time too and I get frustrated when I know that I put it there and when I go to find it, its not there. I have accused my husband left right and center only to have found it either fallen down the side or at the back or placed on the other side of a drawer LOL What makes me even more madder is when my husband goes looking for things and they are right there in front of him and he still can't see it - now thats scary!

As we speak I am about to open a garbage bag, because I am sure that is what I must have done with a bus ticket that I am missing. I hate digging in the garbage, but its a $30 ticket, which obviously I wouldn't want to lose.

Yes, it has happened to me several times and have gone nuts also each time. It's really so irritating to think that you were just holding that object few seconds ago and now you can't find it anymore. Sometimes i can't help but curse while looking for it as it's just so damn frustrating how it went missing. In my case i couldn't accuse anybody else, except maybe the spirits?, as i live alone in my place. One time i've been looking for my comb and couldn't locate it for about 30 mins. already so i just decided to use instead the hair brush that i don't like using. The moment i combed my hair that missing comb just fell into my feet. There it was tucked on my coiled hair all along while i searched for it. Oh well, i guess maybe that's what they call memory gap.

Oh thats too funny. Well I'm glad you found your comb. I've been searching for a bus pass for the past 3 days and I can't find it anywhere. Wish me luck.

And doesn't it seem that later when you look, its just where you left it in the first place?

Infact I am not that old to forget things, but every other day I keep missing out something and I find the same thing at the same place 2 or 3 days later. I really bang my head for that. But yes there is something is there in my house that keeps things dissappearing and reappearing. Dunno why this is hapening but I have also found that somethings never return too. Recently lost a bunch of keys and as I was ill it was DH who have to search for them and he said that he have searched all over the dresser and dress cupboard, but it is not there and he kept blaming me for that but I just wanted to recheck and I found the keys just in his closet below his hand towels. And it is the very place he said he have searched for the keys for a long time.

I don't think its age related for the most part. I think it happens to the very best of us.

Too many times, and I start getting aggravated and then I start talking to the object in question, like once I get my effing hands on you I will smash you to smithereens or something of that ilk! I get so mad (good job I am going on an anger management course LOL) and I start to get agitated and curse everything, I get into a right state and when I do find it believe me I throw the thing that has caused me so much upset across the room in anger! Most of the time it's my wallet and thankfully that is not made of glass LOL!

Thats funny. I know I responded to your comment already, but for some reason it must not have taken. Either that or I forgot where I put it LOL. If I could throw it I would.

This happens to me quite regularly. We have a special place for most of my things now because I missplace them so often. I know the reason for mine is my Mutliple Sclerosis, but it so funny that Bruce bought me one of those *mini voice recorders* for Christmas and I just found it last night. OLO

It only gets better with age doesn't it? Glad you found your voice recorder though.

Now I am convinced you have a secret web cam in my house! i have always done it as well and I have seen me actually in tears because of it! I just hope it doesn't get worse as I get older! xx

I promise I don't have a webcam in your house. LOL. I don't even own one. I don't like the things. I find them too invasive, but as for losing things later in life, I think thats something we all fear.

Oh gosh! I hate when that happens to me! It drives me absolutely nuts until I find it. Litterly, nuts! I mean I'll start looking in the oddest places for it. Places it could not possibly be in, yet I'll look there anyway. Say I'm writing something and I get up for a minute and set my pen down, then can't find it, I'll start looking in the microwave, the refrigerator...etc. If that's not bad enough, if a minute later I still have not found it, I'll look in all those same silly places again! Then, what usually happens, the moment I give it, grab another pen and sit down, waaalaaa! There's the pen I was looking for! Right under my nose!

LOL. That was funny. Alot of times, what I do is have something in my hand and I'll be cleaning up and throw it away with everything else. I have a gut feeling its in the trash, but its the last place I want to have to look, so I procrastinate. So after scouring the house unnecessarily, sure enough I dump the trash and there it is.

I couldn't agree more. With me it's car keys and spectacles. Every time I come up with a foolproof plan, the fool (me), goes and shows that he's still an idiot and doesn't work to it. Back in the 80s someone came up with a key ring that beeped when you clapped your hands. We all had one, and you know what, all day long the things beeped away as someone or other clapped their hands and got our keys in response. We have these 3 cordless phones at home. They get eaten by the sofa. Often we can hear the phone ringing, but cannot see it at all. By the time that we have discovered that the sofa's got all the phones again, it's too late, the caller has gone.

i totally get what you mean. it has happened to me numerous times too. i don't dare to tell anyone especially my husband at first as usually, i am always the one to be at fault no matter what. sometimes, yes it is but sometimes it's not. thus, i usually search for it. my heart is pounding like crazy but i still dare not tell. if it's really serious and need it urgently, then i ask my hubby but if it's not that serious, then i just don't mention it. but i have to consider myself lucky because everytime i lose something, i always tend to find it no matter how late. once i lost a library book so i was resigned to paying the book fee and fine. i hadn't told my parents yet esp my mom. hehe she always scolds me. the day my book was due, i was getting ready to go to the library and one last time, i searched everywhere, asked my siblings finally where i got negative responses and finally asked my mom who was of course, scolding me for being careless. i was also hitting my head mentally too. i don't know what prompted me at that time but i went back to my bed, lifted the pillow and moved the bed a little downwards and there lodged in between was the dratted book. grins, i've never felt that relieved before. hehe i told my mom that i found it and she was of course, don't borrow books if you are going to keep misplacing it like that. hehe this is only one example. there have been tons of cases even after i got married where this has happened. i have been fortunate so far that i have found the things i misplaced or lost. don't know what will happen if it is something really important. grins

Today I've been looking for my bus pass. I remember picking it up with a bunch of paperwork. I have opened and closed said papers I don't know how many times and still cannot find it and yet I know that this is where I put it. I'll probably come across it after it is long expired.

Ok, ok this is a good subject and one I hold true and dear lol. I have been like that for years always loosing something or another, and at one time thought, I did have a gremlin who followed me everywhere. My poor children had regular bouts of , where the heck our my Keys, was almost a daily event. So I have over the years, just to save my sanity, taken it to the next level, I have trained myslef to always put my keys in one spot, I am almost OCD now, lmao. I check and recheck things just to be sure they are not lost, of course these things all have there proper spots now,the benefit is, I rarely have one of those looking all over moments. Oh and here is a good one, I once lost a ring, to find it like three years later, on the front lawn, that kinda blew me away.

Wow Deea, I can't believe you found that ring after 3 years. That was a piece of luck. I have lost rings later to find them unexpectedly, but never after 3 years. As for keys recently I have developed the same habits as you. Always checking to make sure I know where my housekey or the mailbox key is.
