How did you find your job that you are working in right now?

Wanted to know how did you hear about the job you were in now? Was it through the internet (job search sites), employment agencies, ad in newspaper, yellow pages, friend or other? My partner is currently looking for work as a diesel fitter and he is currently looking on the job search sites through the net. Which method do you think is most effective in seeking employment. I think calling places in yellow pages, jobs that are not advertised is sometimes a good option as not all employers advertise positions available. Plus then you don't have lots of competition from other people applying for the job.

I don't think my situation will help your parnter at all, but you asked, so here goes... I became disabled an unable to continue working as a paramedic and Army National Guard NCO. So, after a few years, I decided to quit lamenting my disabilities and start enjoying my retirement... Now I teach guitar. ;~D

I am so sorry to hear about your situation, I am glad that you have an exciting job now and are enjoying your retirement. Teaching guitar that would be an awesome job. I have always wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but have not got my act together. I need to go out there and get lessons. Thanks for your story, take care :))

For people who need to get their act together, I highly recommend either learning an instrument or taking up martial arts. Both require extreme concetration and focus, which is just the skill needed to put other parts of your life in perspective and make better choices. Swing by Wisconsin once a week and I'll help you learn what you need to know to fix any part of your life. Course, the trip might be a bit long for once a week, so maybe we can work out your lessons so you only need to come by every other week. :~D

I've always been lucky...and the offers have come to me through people I know. I've never had to scout for work...or maybe I just didn't because I really wasn't looking out for one. I started working while I was in college (during breaks) and then just continued at the same company with a different designation. After I was married, I didn't work and I got a job when I went school hunting for my son. I quit when I was pregnant with my second child and now I've again been offered a job at my older son's school. I guess I'm just plain lucky.
