Lunar Eclipse

Lunar Eclipse - This was taken with a Canon powershot S5 with IS. I had it on a tripod and used a 2 second delay to reduct the shake of the camera. I used the program mode with an ISO of 400 and the 12x Optical zoom.

Thought I would share one of my photos of the Lunar Eclipse. If you look closely you will see to the lower left of the moon is Saturn or Regilus which are usually not visable because of the full moon. You may see the other star directly above the moon. The moon has a reddish appearance to it from the ambiant light. I am working on a composite showing the stages of the Eclipse and will post it when I have it done. I did do a little enhancing using Photoshop Elements 3 to bring out the two stars that is why the moon has a square of blackaround it.

Why is there a box around the moon? Just asking. Otherwise, cool. I wish I had taken my camera out!

Oh nevermind. What I meant was, why what you did made a black box around it?

I was editing the program using Photoshop Elements 6 whick I just got and was not sure whic tools to use so I did a select and then inverse select leaving a square around the moon which did not get lightened to show Saturn and Reglius.
