So I just ADORE this woman and pretty much have since first here the poem Still I Rise and then reading some of her other works....Well today I heard a poem of hers being recited by her in the movie Madea's Family Reunion (which was fabulous btw) and I fell in love with it right away...Partly for the words and partly of course for her passion as she spoke it...In any case....its beautiful and I wanted to share it.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ In and Out of Time The sun has come. The mist has gone. We see in the distance… our long way home. I was always yours to have. You were always mine. We have loved each other in and out of time. When the first stone looked up at the blazing sun and the first tree struggled up from the forest floor I had always loved you more. You freed your braids… gave your hair to the breeze. It hummed like a hive of honey bees. I reached in the mass for the sweet honey comb there…. Mmmm…God how I love your hair. You saw me bludgeoned by circumstance. Lost, injured, hurt by chance. I screamed to the heavens….loudly screamed…. Trying to change our nightmares to dreams… The sun has come. The mist has gone. We see in the distance our long way home. I was always yours to have. You were always mine. We have loved each other in and out in and out in and out of time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Is anyone else a fan of Maya Angelous? Do you find her totally inspiring like I do?

I also adore her! I have read a short story of her and it states about how you free yourself from all the things you are doing and go away for a while. Relax. It taught me how to survive during stressful times. Maya Angelou is a great writer.

I really love Maya Angelou...ever since I read her poem Phenomenal Woman, I became a fan. I have read a lot of her works and my favorites are "I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" and "Touched by an Angel"...she's so good, I got a book of her poems... Here's the text for Touched by an Angel We, Unaccustomed to courage exiles from delight live coiled in shells of loneliness until love leaves its high holy temple and comes to our sight to liberate us into life. Love arrives and in its train comes ecstasies old memories of pleasure ancient histories of pain. Yet if we are bold, love strikes away the chains of fear from our souls. We are weaned from our timidity In the flush of love's light we dare be brave And suddenly we see that love costs all are we and will ever be. Yet it is only love which sets us free. ---Touched By An Angel by Maya Angelou

I love her work, there are so many of her poems that touch me differently. I think the two that got me the most is Still I rise.. and Phenomenal woman. Still I rise speaks volumes to me because I feel like that sometimes. That no matter what people do or are doing to me, I'll never give up, they'll never break me and I'll always rise to the top at the end.
