According to Chinese law, I can only have one kid. I already have one daughter, but I really want another. Afraid of losing my job, I can't have another. In the past 20 years, one-child policy helped China reduced polulation by 400 million, which helped to reduce the globle population and increase the living-standard of Chinese. But I really want another.

I guess I didn't realize that they were till enforcing that... I can understand their reasoning, but it is still very sad that they can control how many kids you have. It sounds like if you do have another child, you'll lose your job... is there a way you can save up enough money so that if you do lose your job because you have another child, you can still manage? If I truly wanted another child, I think that's what I would try to do. Good luck to you...

In rural place, parents are permited to have another child if the first one is a girl. In city, we still can only have one kid.

What would happen if you had another? Would you ever consider moving to where its okay to have as many children as you want? I have two children and they are a joy. It can be tough. SO cant anything. I think theres things that you should experience in life. One of them is being a sibling. I hated it most of the time because I was the oldest of THree girls. As I began school some of my friends were only children and they always wanted to be at my house. It may be different for your child because everyone is an only child. Dont worry. No matter who you call god, He/she will guide you. Talk to your spouse. Maybe he/she feels the same and would be willing to move or something. Dont Fret over it. You can always come to AMerica! We love children.lol

Oh that is the policy in China? I am not aware of that. Though that is propagated here in our country also it is not taking that much momentum. I have two kids, a daughter and a son. I am happy we decided to go for the second. Now they both are enjoying themselves as siblings very much.

As an only child, I can personally tell you that we aren't a "deprived" bunch. I "adopted" my siblings from among my friends as I was growing up. But I also would have been happy had I had brothers and sisters. But, if I had my life to live over again, I would want to live it as an only child, as that was the life I knew and I was happy with it. Too bad you don't live in the USA. We even have a family here that has about 17 or 18 kids--and might have even added more since I read about them last. Let me go get their website. brb... I'm back & here's their website... http://www.duggarfamily.com/ Fantastic, huh!?!

Hi yannycui, I have only one kid with me. I rather pitied my kid for his loneliness as he didn’t have any sibling to play with during his childhood. For the sake of the child, I think it is better to have at least two children in a family. I understand that, as in your situation, it might be a dilemma for you either to choose a second child or the current job.

I am blessed with three children, one little one and two older daughters who are mini adults now really. If you are still living in China you will have to abide by thei Law so if you do desparately want another child that much I would suggest the only solution would be to move country. A big decision and one not to be taken lightly. How does your husband feel, does he want another or is it just you. What about the frineds and family you would leave behind to enable you to have this other child. What if you do not become pregnant again for some other reason after moving your family abroad. Just so many questions and answers to be thought over here. Good luck with your descision. You are blessed with your daughter, some people aren't blessed with any who so desparately want. Ellie :D

Sorry for you, its very unfortunate. I have 2 adorable daughters and a 3rd child is on the way. You can come and live here in Kenya - Africa, we don't have a law to control birthrate and you can have many children as you can give birth to. Ever thought of adoption or how is it in your country?

The law still apply until today? Sad to hear that. Luckily in my country we are free to have as many children as possible. In fact our government imposed the target on reaching 70 million of population by the year 2020, meaning to say an average of 8 children per family. Back to your question, I have 1 pair. In fact I intent to have 4 kids however due to medical reason,my wife depend on one kidney, the doctor advised us not to take the risk or more children. It is fine with me to have a pair and I am lucky to be blessed with 2 beautiful kids.
