As a mother and being a friend of others that have children also, I find that we have certain nicknames for our children. Do you have a cute nickname that you call your child all the time? What is it, and why did you start calling them by their nicknames?

I do have niks for all my kid's, and when I was growing up my mom had them for me. My name is Marilyn, I knew when I was in trouble when I heard Linda Jane, that was the only time she ever called me that, when I was in trouble. My kids niks started with my youngest, Gabby, for some reason I started calling her Lucy Lu, I think it because it sounds sassy and that is her nature. The other kid's must have been jealous, (they are all adopted, and vie for my attention), we were are in the living room one day and I called said something about Lucy Lu, one of the others said do you have names for us too? Talk about thinking fast! The middle girl Ariel wasn't too hard, I have always called her Butter Butt cause she has a hiney that is gonna be a man magnet. The others I had to come up with quickly cause I never want any of them to think I have favorites. The oldest I now call Butter Cup, like the middle ones butt, she is blessed with the top, LOL. The next one I said would be Rosey Lips, she has a beautiful smile, and her lips are usually reddish tinted. The only boy in the group was gonna be my challenge, but the baby saved me, she said mom I know what you can call him, Jedidiah! Apparently that is a favorite TV character for her, so she saved the day, and it stuck. Sorry this one was so long, but with 5.......Blessings

no need to apoligize, i enjoyed hearing about the nicknames! they all sound so suitable for each of them. I only have one son and i have about 5 niks for him. But I think my cat gets the worse of it haha. i've got many names for that lil crazy man. I'm using a computer at work and the keyboard is very awkward and so i can't type capital letters that great on here, i thought i would just let you know that incase you thought I was weird lol. anyhow.. thanks for your response

my sons name is keiron and i have always called him kiwi or kei (pronounced key i guess). i don't know why i call him kiwi i just always have lol, he is happy for me or any other family member (like my parents and brothers and sisters) to call him kiwi, but has started a few fighting in school with another boy called kieran (same name, different spelling lol) for calling him kiwi. my mum used to call me little blue when i was a child, apperently it was because of a program i used to wach that was my favorite and it had a character in it called little blue. or she would call me BJ (my first name is bobby-joe).

Kiwi is such a cute name! I guess it's personal for your son. It's alright when family calls him and the ones that are close to you, but I get the feeling that he's not going to let just anyone call him that? So if he lets you call him that, then take that as a good thing :) thanks for your thoughts :)

Eggs had been my son’s favorite food since he was a little boy by the age of three. We used to prepare eggs in different ways for him daily. He seemed to enjoy eggs very much and he liked to take whatever food as long as they were made from eggs. Thus his cousins teased him by the nickname, dandanzi (in my language it means kid of egg).

That's a really cool nickname for your son. How do you say kid of cheese in your language? That's my son's very favorite food! I can't get him to eat eggs though, I wished I could but he won't do it. Just cheese.

I think it's a special bond when a family member or family friend calls someone by a nickname. I find when I come up with a nickname for whoever it may be, it means that the next time I call them that, I won't forget what they did to earn the nickname. thanks for your thoughts

My oldest daughter was only 2 when I had my second daughter and we named the second one Nancy. Since my first one was just learning to talk she couldn't say Nancy and it came out Ceecee. Nancy is now 38 and has been called Ceecee by everyone all her life.

My 3 year old son is named William, and I don't remember why, but I started calling him Willyummy. I also call him Buddy. I've called him that so much that now if any one asks his name he will tell ppl his name is Buddy. My little girl is 3 months old, I call her Sissy. We will see if that will change once she gets a little older and her personality starts to shine through. I will probably come up with something more original for her.

Both names are cute. I have I don't know how many for my one son. One of them my hubby started this year. I'm not sure if you heard or seen that movie superbad? Well there's a boy in there and his name is McLovin... well my hubby things my son looks like him so we've been calling him McLovin since then. Well I"m not sure if it's just his age that he's up to now, but when a girl that looks nice on tv comes on, we call him mclovin and he doesn't like that but it's cute! Or, if I see a show that I think is too adult for him, I'll say "you can't watch it b/c there's too much McLovin in there" and he knows what I mean. thanks for replying
