Small or Large Wedding?

My good friend, Erik just got married to his lovely wife, Noelle, today in a beautiful small ceremony in Calgary, AB. Although I assume that part of the reason it was so small was because they gave the wrong directions to the church :) -- it was still a lovely little ceremony and very close knit, just family and close friends. My ex boyfriend, who is still my best friend, came down with me, and we were discussing marriage on the way back and both agreed that for us, a small ceremony would be best because we're both easily stressed. I know many people dream of big ornate weddings, so what would you prefer? A small or large wedding? If you are already married, what did you have, and in hindsight would you change it?

I prefer small wedding because i can't entertain huge crowd. I want to have a small wedding so i can invite people who are closest to my heart and i can share my happiness with them at the same time. I want it to be simple. The only importance is I love my husband to be and I am ready to be with him for forever.

I prefer small and ornate. I don't really like catering to a ton of people and my fiance hates crowds and we don't have much family and hardly any friends so small was our only option. But I absolutely love details and intricacy and great food, great atmosphere. But we don't have much money, so I can't do hardly any of what I wanted to, but it'll be great anyway.

I wouldn't mind a small wedding. One that's lovely but small with just family and friends. I'm not fully sure what my partner would realy want though. I'm sure that one one hand she'd want a small one, on the other a large one. The perfect princess wedding. So it's a toss up on which one.

On our wedding day! - Matt and Me!
Ours was considered a small wedding if you can call 80 guests a small wedding. It was just the right number of family members and a few friends that joined us on our special day. We were living in Samoa at the time and were having our wedding in New Zealand, so trying to arrange things from there was quite difficult, but thanks to my inlaws, sister in laws, my parents, sister and siblings, they helped out bigtime. I don't think I would of changed anything actually. I loved it!!

I got married in secret, in the city hall with two friends as witnesses. I'm still married after 35 years, and I never regretted not having a big wedding. I think too many people put too much effort into the wedding itself instead of the relationship that should last for the rest of their lives. My younger brother who married twice went through two big weddings, because the brides and their families wanted it. The first marriage lasted a year, and the second lasted two weeks.
