Hi I understand exactly what your talking about. I have a 16 month old, a 5 year old and a 6 year old. My 16 month old and my 5 year old repeat EVERYTHING that I say. My 6 year old use to. He stopped doing it around the age of 5. Not only did my 6 year old repeat everything I said, but what other children said also. Scary! Oneday he came home and cursed. I was very upset because I do not curse. I explained to him that he doesnt have to repeat everything I say and def not everything he hears other people say. I also asked him why he repeats everything I say, he told me because he wanted to be like me. Understandable. I think once your daughter realizes she doesnt have to repeat everything then it will slow down. Remember that every child is different and she might do it for a while. My 5 year old does it alot to the point where he sounds just like me, lol. I have explained to him that he doesnt have to repeat everything I say, but I dont think he quite understands yet. The best thing we can do until our children understand is to watch what we say and how we say it. Good-luck

I don't think they ever stop repeating the things they hear. We just don't get to hear what is being repeated as they get older. It is just a normal thing and you have to watch what id said in front of them. In time they will learn what is and isn't acceptable to repeat.

Maybe this is her way of taking things in, I am sure it will stop when the next hurdle in her education comes along, with her repeating everything just may make her a bit more advanced than others in her class who knows...

There are some kids like that. They keep on repeating or uttering words they hear, so the adults around her must be careful of the words they say. Some kids also like imitating actions of other people. I guess this is normal, coz kids are undergoing a learning process. Don't worry it will pass. Just be careful in your words and actions, and set a good example, coz kids tend to do or immitate and say what they hear or see from people around her, from other people too or from shows that they watch on tv.

I don't know but my 4 year old boy is not repeating all what he hears. Did you talk to your girl about it? It might be normal.
