film series

I am probably about the only one who didn't understand The Matrix and it bamboozled me, that after the first film I thought seeing another is not going to make any different in understanding the concept and what the film is really all about. I thought Pirates of The Caribbean went on for two long, I think they have got the shell of a story and it's so much easier to build upon it than start something from scratch, it's like cheaply cashing in on the original. Jaws was a shining example. One film about a killer shark is enough but to actually do 3 of them? Or was there 4? The second and third films were stupid and lost the interest because you knew damn well what was going to happen.

I disagree. I enjoyed Rambo 2 much better than one, the third O.K. There are many movies where the sequels are better then the first. Like Nightmare on Elm Street.

You know I read the first sentence of your discussion and was already thinking, "The Matrix". I enjoyed the first one rather a lot, but the second two were so boring I actually fell asleep in the cinema watching one of them. I can't even remember which one it was that I was dragged along to! The idea that there's another Rambo out is rather laughable. Stallone is a dreadful actor and could pull off the stoic action hero when he was younger, but he really does just look foolish now. Nonetheless, my partner is determined to go and see it for some reason!

The problem is that if you like a film then you will watch the sequel and maybe buy it so the producers get their money and then go on to do another and another, not always good ones but some are ok.
