Do you know anyone that plays the "why" game?

My husband started this last night. Just out of the blue he said hey who decided a cat was a cat and not a dog? Where they come up with the word cat? And it just went on and on about normally every day things. He made me start thinking about ever day stuff I am how where they named?

hm sounds like me! one reason is because i am a history fanatic and a lot of common every day stuff is named after people or have some other significance...such as a kleenex. there are tons of brands of kleenexes but they got their name from the Kimberly Clark company that invented them during WW1.
i am also like this because i am a writer and (in my own mind) pretty creative and always wonder where words come from...
